Applying for fiancee visa with no $ in account?

I have an important question. I'm back from the UK after visiting with my boyfriend for 5 months. I quit my job before going so I have no income at the moment. To make things stickier, I'm still married so I'm now going to have to go through the process of getting divorced. I'm hoping to get the divorce in 3 to 4 months when I will then apply for a fiancee visa to go back to the UK and get married. Problem is, I don't have any money in my bank account. At the moment, I'm staying at my parent's house and I was planning on not working so I could spend as much time with them as possible before I leave. Will me not having any money in my bank acct be a problem when I apply for the fiancee visa? How much will my fiancee have to have in his bank acct? He makes about  27,000 GBP annually? Will that be enough in immigration's eyes for two people to live off of? And about my divorce. Will they give me a hard time if I apply for a visa right after my divorce is granted? Or question our relationship because of the fact that we were together while I was still married? Any advice would be greatly greatly appreciated.

As far as income goes, his should be sufficient to cover you in immigration's eyes--they're concerned about the UK citizen's ability to support a foreigner, not about the foreigner's income. I don't think immigration will question your marital status when you got together--perhaps if you were from a Third World country, some eyebrows might rise. But typically, Americans don't need to move to the UK for a better quality of life. Come to think of it, why does immigration need to know your marital history to begin with?

Texasgal, there shouldn't be a problem with the proximity of your divorce to your application for the visa.  In fact, there are some who have applied whilst in the midst of their divorce - as long as you can prove that you will be free to marry within the 6 month period of the visa.

My point was that if you're going to be legally free to marry here when you decide to tie the knot, you don't need to volunteer any information. Obviously, if asked, tell the truth. Thank you as always, peedal, for your helpful clarification.

Yes. But all you have to state is the dates the marriage began and ended, and provide divorce papers--or proof that a divorce will take place within 6 months if it hasn't gone through yet. You don't have to give personal details about why you got, or are getting, a divorce.  All the Consulate cares about is that you will be legally free to marry your fiance within 6 months. 

The only thing that I have been waiting on to file my fiancee visa paperwork is my divorce papers to arrive.  They are with the judge and just waiting for his signature.  This could take a few days or a few weeks or a month.  Receiving the visa is the only thing separating my fiance and I.  Seeing this post that some people have filed for and received a fiance visa while still going through their divorce interested me.  I know the divorce will be finalized within a couple of months at the most, but I'd rather wait for it in the UK with my fiance then in the US alone.  Can anyone offer any more details about this.  Is there anyone out there who has done this (filed while still legally married and waiting for divorce to go through).  Would it help if I had a letter from the court stating the divorce paperwork has been filed and is just waiting for the judge to sign it?

Thanks everyone for the advice. At times, all these processes seem so complicated and emotionally draining. And I haven't even started. It's nice to know that there are people on this website that are willing to help each other and share their stories.  Please feel free to give more advice.
