I used a 'roll on' by Vaseline while I was there and I really liked it. It's not really a roll on, per se, it's more of a cream that you push up through a little hole and smear it on. The applicator does make it kind of look like a roll on, but it's not. It doesn't feel wet like a roll on or spray.

I use Dove stick deodorant in the UK - I haven't had any problem finding it anywhere.

Usually I buy it in Boots, but they should have it in the larger supermarkets and other stores too.

Same here, and I find it in the exact same places.  The only problem is that the sticks are smaller in the UK and so don't last as long.  But that's really a very small issue.  Try Boots.  They have other kinds of stick deodorant as well as Dove.

Yes, JennyEye, keep looking & you will find a stick/solid deodorant here somewhere!  :)

You just won't find the broad selection of it that you'd find in the US. For instance, my favourite deodorants are from the Secret Fresh Effects range - with all the lovely & different scents (especially the Cucumber-Aloe one but I'm using a Vanilla one now), and those aren't here.  :(

But I stock up when I go back to the US.  :)

I haven't found a stick I like here, but if/when I run out of my Secret stash - I'll have to try some of the suggestions here.  :)

Seems to me I have been seeing more availability of stick deodorant lately.  But you do have to look.

Something I'd forgotten about is how ladies of a certain age get all dressed up just to go to the shops: smart skirt, cardy or jacket, sensible but smart shoes  :)  Actually it surprises me they still do this as I am now in that age range myself and I certainly never dress like that!

LOL - I am definitely of that certain age, but all I can say is that the t-shirt & shorts I wore to the shops this morning were clean. I don't own any 'nice' clothes these days.

Maybe I just never notice because I work, but I have never seen people dressing up nicely to go to the shops.

In my experience, what people wear to shop varies by neighbourhood just as it would in the US.

Aye. This is a heavy retirement area and yeap, I definitely see folks all dressed up to go to the shops.
But I would think studenty areas would be a lot different.

My mother (now in her 80s) wouldn't DREAM of going to the grocery store unless she was properly 'dressed'. That was definitely the way in the south, at least in our little town. When I was a kid, the Great Debate was whether it would be appropriate to go shopping wearing slacks (and by that I mean 'dress pants', not jeans, not sloppy/comfy sweatpants) instead of a dress.

Most older (my age or older) women I see in Tesco, Morrisons, M&S, take far more care about what they wear than I do. But then again,  never did go for anything but comfort. Years back DH begged me to buy some 'decent' clothes because he thought I looked too sloppy when we went to the store. He even threatened to burn my favorite sweat pants!

This is a studenty area -- probably the most heavily populated in the country -- and they wear their usual studenty things.  But there are still a lot of ladies shuffling along in their posh outfits and usually with a voluminous shopper or a trolley (I've broken down and got the trolley).  Maybe it's just Yorkshire ?

Yaaaaay! You've got a trolley!  ;D

I kind of want to get one. I figure if a young Spanish (or Italian) woman can pull a trolley around & still be looking all young & sexy, why not me? As long as there are pockets for the wine bottle & the baguette, you're good!  ;D

If you really want to see poshly dressed ladies (with blue rinse) - go to Harrogate!  ;D

I have a shopping trolley. But mine doesn't contain food- it's brilliant for dragging a music stand, trombone stand, big stacks of music, and mutes - but also as a 'cool' pocket for snacks and drinks. Big heavy wheels, right height handle. I know this doesn't look sexy though :P

I figured you'd have the garden shed in it too!  ;D
