Cheap ways of getting to Paris?
« on: February 07, 2005, 01:04:39 PM »
Hi There,

Anyone have any bright ideas on inexpensive ways to get to Paris? I thought Eurostar was supposed to be cheap but when I checked out their site, I didn't see anything that really beat the average Easyjet cost etc.

If you know of any special offers etc. or just general advice, that would be great. If not I'll probably just opt for Easyjet.

Many Thanks,

I just checked out BMI (short for: British Midlands?), one-way ticket London Heathrow to Paris (Charles de Gaulle) for £11.00 (web offer), return ticket same price. That's for a flight around 2 weeks before Easter.

The cheapest way ... swimming across the canal  ;D

Eurostar is outrageously expensive. They do have some cheap fares now and again but they usually leave London at 5 in the morning or something which, if you live outside of London is nearly impossible as the trains aren't even running yet!  ::) I'd say if you have the benefit of some time, drive and get a ferry. If not, have you checked Ryan Air and Easy Jet?

Eurolines (bus) is very cheap and not too bad, if you don't mind long bus rides and I think Paris is worth a long bus ride!!

With airfares, don't forget to add in the cost of getting to the airport.  The fare to Stansted Airport from central London is astronomical, often more than the airfare.
