Hi, I'm Marlespo. :)
« on: February 07, 2005, 04:21:42 PM »
I thought a re-inroduction might be in order since I've been away from the baords for so many weeks now! I'm Sara - wife to David and mother to wee little 10 month old Philip. I met David at a bar nearly 4 years ago while I was living in Michigan and he was there on business. We did the long-distance thing for a while then I moved to England. Hada bit of an immigration nightmare trying to get in on my passport, but live and learn, eh? I re-entered on a fiancee visa eventually and we got married in Bury St. Edmunds and lived in Ely. (I Miss Ely!) We then had a Wedding Show in the US a few months later on the 4th of July and as a wedding gift we got pregnant. David got a new job a few months ago for a Cambridge based company that wanted to set up U.S. operations so we have just moved back to America with his work. I've been MIA through this whole Immigration thing - - it is tough business! But now we're back on line, have got a place of our own here in Missouri, and are really happy with the whole thing. Found a place to buy Weetabix and everything! So HI THERE to everyone - all the oldies I know and don't know, and all the newbies I haven't met yet. Nice to meet you. :D
I'm done moving. Unrepatriated back to the UK, here for good!

Hi,

How is it being back home?  Has it been an easy transition?

You have been sooooo missed!!!!

Was there any Squash (Drink) with the Weetabix?  Richard uses the excuse that there is no Squash in the US for not moving back!!!

Thanks guys. :) World Market sells Weetabix, Typhoo, HP Sauce, Hob Nobs, McVities, Cadbury Bars (lots of different kinds), mushy peas, Ready Brek, PG Tips, Marmite, Coleman's Mustard and I think a few other things! I don't know where all World Market has stores, but I had one in Michigan and there are loads around here. :) It's all a bit hiked up in the price department, but that's to be expected. No Baked Beans sadly....

We're both adjusting really well. I thought I'd feel too strange here - and I do feel a little strange - but still happy and comfortable. David loves it here as well. He's been to the US before, he was working here for 6 months when I met him, and has been here for weeks at a time on business as well. We both miss England but we moved to the US not thinking that we left the UK behind, only that we were moving to our *other* home. It helps that his only co-worker is English (they immigrated here at the same time as us) and he's got a wife & small child that we see all the time - it makes him feel like less of a fish out of water I think. Aside from the inevitable spells of wishing we were across the ocean, we're happy here so far. :)
