spouse visa, please help

hi everyone,
I married my british wife on october 2004 while i was on a visitor's visa to the uk, i went back home to apply for a spouse visa but xmas time was so close so my wife insisted i come back to celerate xmas wiht her which i did since my visitor's visa was valid till next march and on multiple entries, i felt i was still respecting the immigration rules, but they stopped me at heathrow telling me that i am no longer a visitor and they kept my passport and gave me entry for xmas occasion only, after that, i was deported and my visitor's visa stamped cancelled, now i am planning to apply for spouse visa, please help me would that cacellation affect my application ?
my wife is on benefits, anything about benefits?

i am algerian, but i thought i can find help in this forum cause some questions are common, i liked the way people are treating the subjects but i never thought that i won't find help here, com on guys don't make me feel from another planet

It seems to me that we're dealing with British Immigration polocy regarding visitor and spouse visas, so the nationality of Halimde shouldn't really matter, should it? (Edit:  Ah, I see it does.  So the process will be a bit more complex for you.  Still, I hope it isn't too far off.)

I cannot speak from experience, just from what I've observed, and it seems to me that as long as all your spouse stuff is in order the cancellation shouldn't really affect it-but be prepared to explain it in detail and get some disapproving looks.  I know there are people here who had their visitor's visas cancelled or were denied entry who still got their visas successfully later.

You're not from another planet, the idea is that the US is designated as a safe fast-track country.  And Algeria is a visa national country.  Two different ends of the spectrum.  People coming from the personal experience of a safe fast-track country have different perceptions that may not map into what a visa national would expect.  So it's important to know the difference.

On to business.  You were not deported - you still have your original passport, right?  It's actually hard to get deported without knowingly and deliberately breaking a law - and they are reluctant to do it anyway if they can give you an AR or you agree to go voluntary assisted.  You weren't even refused entry.  It doesn't sound like a show-stopper.  If you were deported, you would have received a yellow voucher that lets you back in to Algeria and that's that.  

As to benefits, that's a different story.  There's been some recent threads running about it.  But for more personal experiences closer to what you can expect, I would suggest the algeria-uk forum or etc etc.   Hope that helps!
