LOL!!!  So really who wants an espresso machine!?  Free, but must pick up No box.  It's missing the bit for the pods (But I might try and write them to get a new one since it was missing!!!!)

Can't believe I missed this thread.   :o

I love coffee.  I am one with coffee.  I don't do instant.

I have my coffee maker timed perfectly:  it starts brewing at 6:30 a.m. and I get up at 6:40.  By the time I make it downstairs, it's gurgling through the last drops and the pot is freshly made.

In England, I had a Delonghi with a drip on one side and cappuccino maker on the other side.  We used the cappuccino  a lot at first, but it was a pain to clean and eventually we lost interest.

Now that I'm back here, it's just a regular drip machine.  But here's my big question to all you coffeeholics:

Have any of you owned (or currently own) an old fashioned percolator?  If so, what is your opinion of it?

I'm considering getting one for the weekends.  I stayed at a friend's house a few years ago and she had one.  The coffee was dreamy.  However now the details are fuzzy and I'm not sure if it really was so superior, or if it was the nostalgia from my childhood (grandmother only used a percolator) that made me enjoy it so much?

My future in-laws think I'm crazy for not drinking tea.

When I stated my desire to purchase a coffee maker my fiance asked "Why? It's easier to make a cup of instant." I have tried explaining that the aroma of freshly brewing coffee in the morning is akin to hearing angels sing but I don't think he understands. Watching the steam rise off the first cup you pour, sniffing in the heady aroma as you raise the cup to your lips for that first tentative taste......

You are so right!   You can't beat that gorgeous aroma of freshly brewed coffee.   :)

As a Brit kid I grew up with tea being made all the time, although in my family we drank coffee as well.    Over the years I ended up cutting right back tea, and since returning from the States about the only time I drink it is if offered a cup when I'm visiting somewhere.

Instant?   I'll drink it if it's the only thing available, but it's just not the same.    Some of the supermarket "own brands" of instant coffee here used to be truly terrible.  I remember being given some from a very finely powered jar one time (must have been about 20 years ago) and it tasted awful.  It even looked gray in the cup rather than brown.   :P

By the way, do any of you get strange looks for drinking black coffee?    Even though coffee has become a much more common drink here over the years, it still seems that few drink it without milk or cream.    Some acquaintances seem to find it very odd that I like my coffee black, even those who already accept that I'm a coffee fiend.   ;)

OK, Got my Senseo, FINALLY got my coffee for it and just made a cup now!  All I can say is YUMMY!!!!  I'm having the Rio de Janeiro flavour, which is supposed to be warm wih Vanilla cream tastes more chocolaty to me though!  Also go decaf and the Vienna flavours that I have not tried.  Anyone love a particular flavour?  Where do you get yours?  I did it through http://www.typicaldutchstuff.com/coffeepods.shtml  it just took a bit of time.  Oh well.  I'm going to NY next week, I can stock up there too I guess.  Do any other pods work with the machine?

I'm on my way, Stacey.  I'll be there in about ten minutes.   ;)
