It depends what you mean by decent, also where you are. Here in north London we have a huge variety of pizza places, some good, some bad, some authentic Italian style, some US style.   There are also some yummy frozen ones in the supermarkets now, I love the Dr Oetker brand.

I love the small pizzaria's here. It doesnt taste like anything Italian or American but it has its own unique taste. We always get something spicy and ask for doner meat on top. The only time i have been disappointed was when we went to Pizza Hut or Snappy Tomato (a local store?).

Yes.. and it all depends on what you want and where you live... I make my own so it's hard to find anyplace that makes them better...

our local Dominoes does some really really good ones and beats the pants off of the hut.  There is also a local Italian that does some mean wood fired ones which are really really good.  Just like mama used to make in Italy...

I am not sure about Chicago style, but I am sure in London you can find anything...

We certainly have plenty of crappy branded pizza places, just like the US. We also have some glorious independent pizza places, just like the US.

My favorite chain is Pizza Express, because it's quick and easy. My favorite independent is L'Artista (Hendon and Golders Green).  The calzone is, as they say, to die for.

My prob. is that I'm from California which I think is the capitol of Pizzas with Oddball Toppings. I absolutely CRAVE some of them - potato and pesto, feta and sundried tomatoes.... Sigh. The closest I've come is La Porschetta (sp?) in Islington - I hear they also have a branch somewhere around Holborn now, too but I haven't lookded for it yet....

I don't mind Pizza Express either - in a pinch.... And I agree that some Italian restaurants do nice wood fired ones....

I've been here 3 years and have YET to have DECENT pizza

The husband unit keeps telling me that PIZZA HUT "is GOOD pizza."  Yeah, right -- uh huh!

I loved Pizza Express.  From what I recall they had a lot of different options.

I ordered a pizza with "rocket" on it and my fiance wasn't sure what it was, and the rest of the toppings sounded good... and when they brought it out I was suprised to find a giant forest of arugula salad on top of my pizza!  (it was good, but difficult to eat!)

My fiance bought some kind of pizza at Tesco and it was called "American Style" or something and it had HOT DOGS on it! :P  He said it was good though.

Just what do you want your pizza descendant from?

As for decent pizza - depends on your interpretation - and if that's all that matters to you in life... :P

hey Anne you would love Sorrento Pizza in Islington, they do sundried tomato topping, also "goat cheese" (not sure if it's feta) AND you can get a side order of jalapeno poppers! Not sure if their delivery zone extends as far as Bucks though ...

pizza express is never hot enough for me. (temp wise)

i like ASK pizzas (chain-i've seen them in a few towns).  their pizza is awesome!

in a moment of weakness i went to pizza hut last night and had a personal pizza.  I gotta tell you, i wasn't disappointed.  It was pretty good-for tourist food!

I fear you've been looking for love in all the wrong places. Pizza Hut does good pizza just like McDonalds does good burgers...

My fiance bought some kind of pizza at Tesco and it was called "American Style" or something and it had HOT DOGS on it! :P  He said it was good though.

The first pizza I ever had in the US, all those sugar-coated years ago, was a hot dog one. Very tasty it was too, especially straight from the fridge the next morning :)

Our Pizza Hut never fully cooks their pizas so the vegies are crunchie and the dough is gooey. So gross!
