What sort of crusts do you use, Carla? I used to make Boboli pizza in the US all the time - I miss them!!!!

Dont know what Carla does, but you know in the pizza section of the supermarket you sometimes get those pizza- shaped garlic breads?  That's what i use when i make pizza.  :)
But i have used those Napoli (i think) ones in the black box next to the pizza & pasta sauces, and they're fine.

Excellent! Thanks for that, otterpop - for some reason I never even thought to look for a substitute for Boboli and just quit doing that for dinner - I'll definitely be making my own from now on!!!

I can type in for you... I have one that blends whole wheat with whote flour, but I am sure I can find you a purely whole wheat one in my book of magic..  ;D

Harrumph! It's almost as if you weren't willing to wait the 48 hour prep time necessary for my wholemeal pizzettas!

I posted it here...

I am a nutty cook so I hope it makes sense!

Wish use strong or very strong whole wheat so you can get it fluffy.

Yeah those were great, but you just can't chew slow enough to really make it worth 48 hour of labor.  :)

Thanks for the recipe Vnice!  Will try it tonight!!

The only time i have been disappointed was when we went to Pizza Hut or Snappy Tomato (a local store?).

I loved the Snappy Tomato we use to go to. Never once thought it was bad.

I have, I think, a very high standard for pizza. Pizza Hut (in the US) used to be just tolerable, but at some point they started to deep fry their crusts. Domino's was the worst pizza that you could get delivered before Pizza Hut made that switch.

I'm most partial to NY style pizza and old-California style pizza. My favourite pizzerias in California are Arinell's (NY style), Pizza My Heart (old Ca style) and Woodstock's (Woodstock's style).

That much established, so far nearly all the pizza I've seen and tasted in a short week and a half in London has been about the same low quality as frozen pizza (which I simply won't eat anymore).

The one exception that I've found is Mulberry Street in Bayswater, a NY style pizzeria. Their slices are pretty spot-on, with the one caveat that mozzarella cheese here is *different*. It's more gooey melted, and kind of resembles "soy cheese" in flavour and texture. Apart from that, Mulberry's is pretty darn good.

mmmm Pizza.  I wish I weren't on a diet after reading this thread.

But, since I haven't found proper ranch to dip it in- I'm okay.

I haven't been to Costco in the UK. US Costco tends to have pizza that resembles a Michelin with burnt cheese.

Ah well, you are in for a treat with pizza in the UK than...
However, as a New Yorker, any pizza outside of the NYC area resembles a michelin with burnt cheese.

Depends on where you're situated.  In a local village (Dinnington) to us there's a really good pizza place that we buy from.
