Priceline?
« on: February 17, 2005, 07:14:54 PM »
Has anyone ever used them for airline tickets?  I use them all the time for hotel rooms here and have always been pleased - but I'm hesitant to use them for tickets as I like knowing when I'm flying, where I'm connecting, how long my layovers are, etc.  Can you really get a good deal?  Any experiences (good or bad) that you'd like to share?

(I wouldn't use them if I were travelling w/my kiddos, but might if I'm by myself...)

When I am grown-up I will understand how BEAUTIFUL it feels to administrate my life effectively.

Until then I will continue to TORCH all correspondence that bores me and to dance NAKED over the remnants of its still glowing embers.

I've used them  -- no problems at all -- our neighbor uses them too and she loves them  ;)

I've used them, especially for expensive overseas trips, and I was happy. You can get good deals. I usually look for the cheapest advertised fare I can find - you know, the ones with few seats if you book six months in advance in the off-season for blind senior-citizens who are members of their discount club - and offer that. They've always taken my offer, since its probably a good estimate of what the airlines think it actually costs them to fly.

However, if you are picky about time, schedule, route, etc be warned. They promise you a flight in a 24 hour period of when you request. Most of mine have ended up with just about the worst schedule available. Leaving early in the morning, layovers, and such. Remember, these are the tickets they are having trouble selling normally. Its fine with me, I'm perverse and enjoy exploring new airports, but it might not be for you.

Thanks for the input.  When I'm travelling by myself, I'm not so worried about the schedule.  And I actually enjoy checking out new airports.  It's only when travelling with the kids that I'd be hesitant.  So....maybe I'll give them a try!
