Private Dental / Medical Ins?
« on: February 21, 2005, 06:32:54 AM »
As a diabetic I have concerns about my and  my daughters dental care. I understand the dentists for the NHS are good, but I also understand if you need extra care(as I do)you are better off with a private dentist. Also my daughter will probably need braces. My question is do I/can I obtain dental insurance there or try to find USA one that can be used there? We are coming to live in Scotland. I already checked on the NHS dentists...closets one is 80 miles away! Could someone refer me to some dental insurance companies? And while I am on the subject of insurance...also need medical  until I quailfy for NHS coverage after marriage. Have several major medical issues and can't be without coverage. Thanks ya'll     Andrea & Marilla

You don't have to wait until after you are married to be covered by NHS. Are you arriving on a fiancee' visa-- if so this is a settlement visa and as a resident of the UK you are entitled to NHS right away.

Sorry can't help with dental insurance.

There is dental insurance, however I'm not sure how good it is.  Have a look at Axa PPP Healthcare's website and they have links for dental insurance.
