Passport renewal with work permit
« on: February 24, 2005, 08:18:10 AM »
I have to renew my passport from the UK.  My understanding of the process now is that I have to send my passport to the US consulate in Britian upon which they will ship it over for renewal and ship it back to me.  Then to get my work permit reinstated on the new passport, I have to ship my passport to the home office and request duplicate conditions be placed on the passport.  Has anyone else had to do any of this and knows if this sounds correct?

Thanks
Adrian

Peedal,

I just saw your post on this(I'm guessing a work permit is synonymous with leave to remain).  Thanks.  Adrian

I'm not sure if it's the same, or still this way, but when my passport with my ILR expired I travelled with both it and my new passport on my first overseas trip. When I entered the UK I showed the expired passport with the ILTR certificate to the Immigration Officer who then stamped my new one with something like "ILR as endorsed in previous passport". I have used this alone from then on with no problems.
