What happens at port of entry?
« on: February 24, 2005, 09:05:31 PM »
I'm flying into Heathrow with my fiancee visa, arriving around 10pm!   :o

So... what happens?  Anything different when I go through the lines after getting off the plane?  Anything I should expect?  My fiance will be picking me up at the airport.  Can he expect a long wait?

Thanks!  :)

It really depends on the IO.  Mine asked if this was my first marriage and where Richard (DH) was.  I said it was my first marriage and that he was right behind her and she just reminded me of how to apply for ILR and waived me on through.   :)

You might get asked whether or not you've been married before and if your fiance is at the airport to pick you up.  I doubt you'll run into any major interrogations or delays.

Good luck!  :)

Don't know what will happen to you, but I was greeted with a confused IO that promptly leaned over to the next IO and ask, "So what do we do with American fiancées?"  ::)

That's a bit worrying, Cait!  Geez.   ::)

I never had any trouble on my fiancee visa.  THe IO just said, welcome to the UK and congratulations.  :)

I"m sorry, I know that this is a serious question about a topic of concern, but, is it just me, or does this just sound like a double entendre? What happens at port of entry? Need we ask?

For me, it was super duper easy, they didn't ask any questions or anything, and I even had a "black mark" so to speak because I had been interrogated & nearly sent back to the US several months earlier when trying to enter on my passport alone. Fiancee visa in hand, and I was good to go. :)
I'm done moving. Unrepatriated back to the UK, here for good!

I was asked why on earth I would want to move from NYC to England, then I got a wink and a stamp! ;)

I got stamped in Dublin then went on to Edinburgh to meet my fiance. I didn't get a wink or a congratulations after they asked how long I'd be staying :-\\\\ The officer just looked at my passport with that big beautiful visa in it and smiled and said "oh!" ::) But no questions were asked.

Do you ever wonder if they feel like God when they approve or deny people? ;)
