Animal Quarantine

This is something that may already have been discussed before in the forum but since I'm kinda new I havent seen it.
I have a 1 1/2 year old cat named Blue. He'll hopefully be coming with me when I move.

Frankly the whole quarantine thing scares me. The thought of him locked up in a cage for 6 months is heartbreaking. He's a very cuddly, needy cat who doesn't even know he's a cat...lol.

Have any of you had to put your animals through the quarantine process or known anyone who has? If so was it an ok experience or one they wouldn't do again?

I haven't been through the experience myself, but there is some information on the Pets page of the main site, http://www.uk-yankee.com/pets.html
