8 month well baby check up
« on: March 01, 2005, 01:50:12 PM »
Today Jack has his 8 month well baby check up with the health visitor.
I love my health visitor. She is always willing to take my phone calls or call me back when I have a question/concern. She also is helping with some issues Im having with my older kids.
So Jack weighed in today at 24lbs 4oz. His length was in cm so I cant remember but she said he was the size of an average 16 month old!
Jack saw the doctor and got a clean bill of health.
Before we left the health visitor gave me a nice cloth tote bag with a few new board books(which he LOVES) and a nice sippy cup. There is a new program that just started (I believe) where the NHS is promoting a read to program for babies. Very nice. I also got a few more freebies which I always love. All I ever got from the US pediatrician was maybe a sticker and a healthy bill!
Oh on another note Jack received his £259 savings voucher yesterday. Anyone else get theirs yet? (babies born after 2002)

Congrats!!  I take it this isn't the same HV who told you that you held your babe wrong?

We have no recourse to public funds so no voucher for this family.  But great support for such a programme, nonetheless!  Bring on the Family Allowances. :)

Jack is obviously thriving, Ricki.  What are you feeding him?

I can't believe he's eight months old already.  I'm so glad to hear that he's doing so well.  Both of my boys loved books, btw.  I read to them as babies and we still have a story at bedtime.  (My six year old reads to me, now!)

Love the picture.  He's so gorgeous, as are all of yours!

Aillidh hasn't gotten a penny.  Been wondering about that, b/c we're getting all these offers for where to invest it. :-\\\\

We've had our voucher for about 2-3 weeks.

We also got books at the 8 month check-up.  No tote bag tho!  :(

Hee Hee hee...no she wasnt the one who told me Im holding him wrong :)  That was some visiting health visitor that came to my house after Jack was born.

Thanks Kellie! All my kids are book readers also. Jack really loves these new books. Maybe because they are NEW! Poor kids have very few new items with 3 older brothers.
Believe it or not Jack has difficulty tolorating anything with texture yet so most his food is pureed still. He loves weetabix and redi-brek. So does Coby who is the size of a 5 year old. My little ones should endorse these products!

Britwife, Im sure you will enjoy ....I mean Ethan will enjoy his freebies also.  ;)

We just received Jacks voucher yesterday or maybe the day before. I absolutely forgot all about it. A few days before it arrived we got some information about investing, etc. Check the inland revenue site.

Woooaah! All the stuff you get! Now I want a baby too ... LOL  :P

24lbs? Well, I hope I can lift the little screamer without deranging my disc (again!) ;)

Weetabix! Se've got our boys on the same growing pills, pebbles. :) The photo is adorable. We had Philip's 8 month check up right before we moved and I also got the canvas tote with the books in it, we've been reading to him every night since he was 6 weeks old and books are his favorite things, he lays down with us every night and has his stories, it is my favorite part of the day. :)
I'm done moving. Unrepatriated back to the UK, here for good!

Your husband can claim child benefit for the children and therefore they will get the £250 voucher.  :)

Yes, there are some threads on this somewhere....  :)
When I was 5 years old, my mother always told me that happiness was the key to life. When I went to school, they asked me what I wanted to be when I grew up. I wrote down ‘happy’. They told me I didn’t understand the assignment, and I told them they didn’t understand life. ~ John Lennon
