FLR at Liverpool
« on: March 01, 2005, 02:19:53 PM »
Hi- I know there has been a lot of discussion here regarding applying for FLR at Croydon.  I was wondering if anyone had applied at Liverpool?  I have an appointment on March 21 at 11:20 am.  I have heard on this site that earlier in the morning is much better as you wait all day and might even be told to come back- but that was at Croydon.  We definitely want to get the FLR prior to April 1, so we took the earliest appointment we could get.  Thanks for any insight into Liverpool.  :)

I have never been to the Liverpool office.   :-[  I would be *very* grateful for an exhaustive rundown on the availability of refreshments, water, restrooms, and so forth.  Is there access to tea and coffee?  Especially if you are in queue, does a person come around with a tea trolley?

I know it seems silly, but they (overall) have a commitment to sort this out in 2005, and I have been hoping to keep abreast of it from the advocacy side.  Commentary would be appreciated!

I applied at liverpool just last October. I had a very pleasant experience. They have a nice waiting area--- did not see tea and coffee available however they did have some vending machines-- soda and munchies. There were toilets. I was seen within 15 minutes of my appointment time and told I could either wait or return for my visa in about an hour-- I chose to wait and it was closer to two hours but overall I would say the experience was straightforward and comfortable other than the natural nerves that are attached to any part of this process.

Good Luck!

Helena

As soon as I go on the 21st, I'll write out exactly what happened, what's provided there, etc.  :)

I received my FLR yesterday at Liverpool.  The staff were friendly and efficient and it was very easy to do.  We arrived at 10:30 am for an 11 am appointment.  After going through the security line we were told to go to the first floor and wait for our number to be called.  We waited for approximately 45 minutes and then were called to a window for the documents we brought to be reviewed.  Since I had received entry clearance, all we had were the form, our passports, and our marriage license.  We were then told to go pay (currently £250).  We waited for approximately another 45 minutes and then were called to another window where we gave all of the paperwork to the very friendly woman behind the window who glanced through it and immediately stated that the visa would be available in an hour and we could wait or go for a walk and come back.  We chose to leave for a pint and came back one hour later.  We waited less than 10 minutes when I was called to pick up my passport (with its pretty, colorful sticker) and a letter stating exactly what I needed to do in 23 months (basically fill out another form, pay another fee, and show proof that we had been living together during that time frame).  We were in and out in approximately 3 hours.  We brought our own lunch with us, since we didn't know how long we would have to wait or what services would be available.
There were plenty of seats for people to sit in while waiting, two clean restrooms (m & f obviously) as well as a handicap/baby changing restroom, a photo machine (£3.50 for four photos), two soda machines (cans: 50p, bottles: 80p), a tea, coffee, and hot chocolate machine (25p) and a crisp/chocolate machine ranging from 50- 75p depending on what you got.  As stated we brought in our own sandwiches without any difficulty and there were other people with baskets of food there as well.  The staff were pleasant, courteous, and efficient.   Hope this is helpful to other people who may be going to Liverpool.

I am considering applying at Liverpool. It's equally easy for me to travel to either Croyden or Liverpool, and Liverpool sounds like it would be less of a hassle.  But that won't be for a few months.

Experiencing Croyden is like a glimpse in hell. Go to Liverpool.

Do they process the ILR in Liverpool as well?
