As expats, are ours still due April 15th?

We can file up to June 15th, but if you owe them, you need to send the money in by April 15th.

I always use the extension till June 15th.. That way i can use the UK tax year as the tax dates.. Makes it easier for me.. :-)... I never owe.. As a RN i'd never in a million years make more than 80,000 USD.. LOL...

That's not entirely true.  You will not accrue additional penalties on top of normal interest accrued if you owe money
and you pay between 16 April - 15 June.  If you owe money and file after 15 June then additional punitive payments will be assessed because then you will be beyond the expat 2 month extension period.

Having said that, to KISS, pay any money owed by 15 April  :)

I haven't earned over $80K this year, so I'm taking advantage of the June date.  Just gonna wait for my P60 in April and do taxes shortly thereafter.

Hi All

Forgive my ignorance...I'm developing an understanding of the filing requirements we have for the U.S. while we earn income over here, but what about our UK tax filing? I've scanned the more recent postings and haven't seen anything about that. Could someone give me an overview of the that (due dates/procedure/forms), or a link to one? I've been hired as a local because I have dual citizenship.

Thanks,
AMERICAN FREAK!

If you're not self-employed, you probably won't *file* taxes in the UK.

If your salary is more than £100k (not me, or lawyers from Utah :) ), you'll need to file a tax return.

Do most of you do your own taxes? Is it relatively straightforward even with our new UK income etc.? When I was in the U.S. I used to have mine done by H & R Block. They were absolutely fantastic because they regularly made errors, but always in your favor.

I'm going to see if they have a UK branch, but just in case, can anyone recommend a good H & R Block equivalent here?

Thanks,

My dad keeps asking me my earnings here in the UK to tell my accountant.  I certainly do not make over £100K  :P  Does she need to file this?  Oh well, as long as I don't need to pay anything.
