They wanted to see my british husbands passport, and prrof of a place to live. Like copy of mortgage, or letter from landlord. Just proof that we actually had a residence. They also wanted to see my husbands proof of employment/ pay. since we are both in the us, to prove that we were  able to be employed. They wanted copies of our CV's (resume) to prove that we were employable, and any prospective jobs that we had searched out to prove that we were going to find work soon after arrival.

I think it would help if I cleared something up.

Enc, if you have FLR(M) then you are not applying for a "settlement visa."  You are applying for Indefinite Leave to Remain, using form SET(M).  A settlement visa would be a fiancee or spouse visa obtained from the appropriate British Consulate PRIOR to entry into the UK.

I know it seems pedantic, but the correct terminology helps everyone keep things clear.

Because what Joni applied for is a "settlement visa" by way of a Spouse Visa, applying in the US before entering the UK for settlement purposes.

Okay - that's over with!

Your list seems pretty comprehensive.  Don't forget the photos, though!  Oh, and the money.  Are you doing it in person?  Also be aware that the fees are supposed to be rising even higher after 1st April this year, so if you're able to apply before then, I would.

In fact, I am.  My appointment at Croydon is on 18th March!

Ok.....Im a bit confused now as to the order in which you have to get what.
If you have a spousal visa (2 years) do you then apply for Further leave to remain (  FLR(M)  )  and then after the stated amount of time (how long is that ? ) apply for indefinite leave to remain (  SET(M)  )  OR  do you just apply for indefinite leave to remain 1 month before the end of your spousal visa ?
Thanks for any help.

Good luck on the 18th March in Croyden.

Stay safe
