Yes, it's where I work!  Leeds - the UK's 'favourite city' (!!!??).  Welcome to Yorkshire Graham!

Thanks!  First time I've stayed in the city.   They tell me there's a good curry house for tonight ....

Heh, I'm gonna show ya a bit of my pedantic site ... Leeds ranks no. 7 in the list of Englands biggest towns ... are you saying that Birmingham, Bradford, Bristol, Coventry, Derby and (Kingston upon) Hull do have either a tram or underground system? ;) (No, it's not a test, I really don't know!)

I was a little surprised by the quote ... I think it's bigger that Bradford, Coventry, Derby and Hull ... and Birmingham does have a light transit system (0ne line!).  Bristol.   Hmm - perhaps they counted the waterbus as a rapid transit  ;D .  Town/City size is an odd thing to measure, of course, as you don't know how far out to meaure the population.

I'm going to look at that building I pocted a picture of and let you know what it is ...

I suck in geography, of course I had a little helper  ;D

Here, in the Wikipedia Encyclopedia, they listed the aforementioned towns in that order by size ...

I totally tried to cheat. I asked Jeeves about European cities without trams or metros :)
Im in Coventry. We have a train line out of the city but not a metro line. We have busses but no trams.

I'm going to look at that building I posted a picture of and let you know what it is ...

On one side of the building it says "Bar Med" and nothing else.

On the other side is a blue (heritage) sign"

"St. Paul's House was originally a warehouse and cloth-cutting works build for John Barran, the founder of the mass-production, ready-made cloting industry in Leeds. Barren was a Mayor of Leeds and served as its Liberal MO from 1877-1885. Architect: Thomas Ambler, erected 1878." ... and there's an entrance to posh-looking offices.

Edit By the way ... I've just been to that Wikipedia link and read "England's six largest cities (in decreasing order of population) are; London, Birmingham, Leeds, Sheffield, Liverpool, and Manchester."

correction: when you said 'continent' I assumed the English continent, not the continent of Europe. Now, of course, I'm thinking, England is not a continent but an island, so I must be wrong ... perhaps it's over in Brussels or so? ;)
Sorry to be pedantic, but strictly speakly England is not an island in itself.  Great Britain is an island, of which England is one part (the other two being Scotland and Wales).

Heh ... of course, you're right! ... and I thought to be the pedantic one when I pointed out that England isn't a continent ;) I think the therapy is working, I'm not even feeling like a failure for being so imperfect ... LOL ;)
