All things Senseo
« on: March 12, 2005, 05:05:08 PM »
OK, so by now you all know my great love for my new Senseo Coffee Maker and Coffee Pods.  I thought maybe creating a new thread would only be fair.  So now that I have a new obsession (Cause the ones I have are not enough :P) can some of you other Senseo owners come out of your coffee coma's and tell me some of your sources?  I've just bought a few more boxes on the American E-Bay site.  I found non-Senseo pods with Decaf Flavourings!  (Yes sometimes I need to have decaf!)  also anyone ever use these?  http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&category=14309&item=4364382035&rd=1

As I am all for being Eco-friendly!!!

I buy all my Senseo coffee on ebay...

I also got some lovely little Senseo cups, and the tall aluminium canisters to store the pods in!

Basically it's a coffee maker that makes one or two cups at a time.  You have to buy coffee pods that fit in the machine.  The deal is it somehow makes this frothy(They call it a crema layer) top to the coffee, and it just tastes so good!!!  Also it makes the coffee in like 30 seconds!  YUMMY!!!  I have had two cups already!  (I usually drink one a day, I cut down a lot!)

It IS pretty brilliant!  If we could afford it, we'd get one.  But we really, really want a breadmaker instead . . .  :-\\\\

A couple of questions:

What is the "crema layer" they're talking about? Is it just frothed coffee? Is there dried milk or cream in the pod with the ground coffee? Do you add milk after? How fattening is a cup of Senseo coffee?

Does anyone know anything about the Bosch Gostino coffee maker? It's on the website that kaylesh sent the linkie for. Works with pods just like Senseo ... but comes in a lovely green colour that I'd be a total sucker for!

No, no dried milk or anything, the rest of the coffee is black.  Just this layer of coffee froth ;D

Never heard of the other coffee maker.

I don't see the coffee makers on that page, just looked

It's probably just what happens normally. When a higher bar (it's the unit of pressure) coffee machine shoots steam through the coffee, there's a layer of tan cream. I shouldn't think that it has anything to do with added ingredients, since you can buy a reusuable plastic container to save on the cost of the prepackaged buds.
