John Lewis and other nice department stores have "hats" that are little more than hair decorations - combs with feathers and such - that I should think would make a non-hat person feel less uncomfortable - sort of a Hat Compromise.  :D

Those are called "fascinators," and I've become quite fascinated with them! They rule! But I'm a hat junkie, anyway. I can't walk into a shop and NOT try on all of their hats!  :-\\\\ 

Don't worry about weddings, though. Some people wear hats and some people don't. There are no hard and fast rules.

went  to watch  Will & Grace this  morning and saw that the horse  race was on.. thought of all of you  wondering if  the women  would be wearing hats!!  ;D
