American Bullseyes
« on: March 16, 2005, 09:26:34 AM »
Does anyone remember the American bullseyes candies? I know they have something similar here that comes in a stick form but I was looking for the individually wrapped ones....the ones I used to pinch when I was 5 years old from the Brach's (sp?) counter.  ;D
Can you get them here in the UK?

I think the British bullseye is an what they would call a 'boiled sweet' - a hard candy - that is individually wrapped or a bunch loose in a packet.  It's black and white and if I'm not mistaken, is liquorice in flavor. It's an old fashioned sweet, so it's hard to find here unless you are near one of the newly fashionable retro sweet shops.

What was the Brach's one like? I can't recall but I seem to think it's cinnamon?
When I was 5 years old, my mother always told me that happiness was the key to life. When I went to school, they asked me what I wanted to be when I grew up. I wrote down ‘happy’. They told me I didn’t understand the assignment, and I told them they didn’t understand life. ~ John Lennon
