well, this thread has just convinced me that I need to go to the beer festival tonite,,,stupid cold won't hold me back.  Just looked at the list of beers on offer and Yabba Dabba Doo sounds nice!

Btw, we have a great Cider Bar in town, no beer just cider and home made wine,,,pretty nice if you want "character" or if you want to meet some characters!

I can't drink Blackthorn, sends me psycho!

Me too!  I have a vague 15-year old memory of standing in the middle of Paisley Road West, pulling off my boot, with the intent of throwing it at an oncoming bus.  I have no idea what the bus did to offend me so!    :-[   Luckily i was with someone who hadnt been on the Blackthorn, and pulled me out of the road.

I tend to drink lager or cider,  but i just cant drink real ale.  The combination of the smell and the temperature of it just gives me the boak.   And anything with a creamy-style head also turns my stomach.

I have just been to Ikea recently, and bought a few cans of their pear cider... oh... my...god....  it is beautiful!!  Very sweet, but it goes down lovely.  ;D

But never fear, gentlemen; castration was really not the point of feminism, and we women are too busy eviscerating one another to take you on.

Cider or pilsner.  I like my beer as blonde as possible.
A few years back, when I was in a pub in London, I ordered a "hard cider" and was nearly laughed out of the pub by the evil bartender.  Do you not say that at all?  Is it just plain "cider"?

Nope, we dont say that at all.
There's no 'hard' or 'soft' about it... it's just cider.  :)

I like cider, but I prefer a really well chilled white grenache. Tacky, I know! LOL

Now that Pebbles has opened a thread specifically on cider, maybe we can return this one to questions of beer, ales and bitters...

Thanks to some of your recommendations, I bought a 4-pack of Adnams for this week... although I have to admit, I was tempted by that case of Rolling Rock I saw at Costco -- to drink while I listen to the NCAA March Madness.

(For some reason, I really maintain a national bent when it comes to imbibing during sporting events: give me Pimm's and Ale for cricket, scotch whisky for point-to-point and foxhunting, and bitter for rugby... but American beer when watching American sports!

I'm with you on the point-to-point, but for foxhunting, I always have to reach for a Ribena Light.

I'm actually a vodka girl, but while visiting the UK I realized that the drinks had no ice and tons of mixer!!!! yuk!! So I tried and loved Cider with black currant syrup and StrongBow.  (even though I was told that these are not very ladylike  :o )

I used to drink Robinsons Reduced Sugar Orange Drink for that. I've actually given up bear baiting - a fine sport, but tended to give me the most horrendous backache! - now I'm heavily into badgers.
