Vital wheat gluten

When I was in America a few weeks ago, I bought a couple of boxes of this to bring back with me, but I have yet to find any here. As you know, it's right by the flour in every American supermarket; here if you ask for it they think you said 'gluten free' and point you toward the weird food aisle where all the corn and rice pasta is stocked.

Does anyone know where I can get wheat gluten here??

Maybe a Chinese/Asian grocer? I have only seen it already made into Mock Duck in Holland & Barratt.

Carla some natural food stores carry it.  What doyou need it for?  If it's bread then you can just omit it so long as you use Extra/Very Strong Flour or Strong Flours.

Thanks, vnicepeeps. I've found flourbin, but by the time I pay postage, it comes to £6.20 for 500 grams!

I guess it's not that important; it's just frustrating not to be able to get what you want when it's something so simple.
