Garlic mashed potatoes would be good, azroomie!  YUM!  I like them with a little of the skins left on and mashed in.

Well, forgot to buy tortillas, so we're having last night's tea tonight and last night we had haggis w/pan-fried potatoes and onions.

A soup of chicken, bacon, leeks, tatties, courgette, acorn squash, onions and red lentils.  Mmmm.  With fresh bread.

Tonight it's bangers & mash (or sausages and mashed potatoes for those of Y'ALL who don't speak ENGLISH  ;D) for DH and chili for me.

Lola, do you do a red wine & onion gravy for the bangers & mash?  That's heavenly....oh, was going to go for Chinese for lunch, but may head to the cafe (that's "caff"!) instead!!

Too bad the pie & mash shop is too far down the high street... :-\\\\

Well the pie was an enormous success last night - thanks Em!!! Even topped it with garlic and basil mash which really added to it.

Tonight.... Bah. I'm sick of coming up with stuff to cook. I've got some chicken breasts defrosting, but need to go to the store to get some veg. and stuff.... Probably either a stir fry or grilled marinated chicken with a big salad.

Anyone have any italian-inspired marinades - maybe with balsamic vinegar or something? I'm getting tired of Asian-inspired ones and sort of want to make a garlicky pasta side dish....

Might I suggest just brushing the tops of the chicken breasts with olive oil and sprinkling mixed herbs (basil, rosemary - those kinds) on them, then baking or grilling them?  That's what I do when I serve pasta on the side.

OOO That sounds really simple and really good.  I've never even thought to do something like that... good idea :)

That sounds good - would you use dried herbs? I've got basil, thyme and rosemary in the garden, but sometimes dried herbs are just as good with things like that....

I use dried herbs because I buy them already mixed - I love the smell and the taste because they've been mingled!

But fresh would probably be just as good!  ;)

For Italian, I've used a bottle of Italian Dressing to marinate but then I am really lazy!

I'm feeling uninspired and lazy tonight, so spaghetti and salad it is.
