Let me know if you try it Carolyn, my husband says I should bottle it and sell it! It's the bay leaf that gives it the real depth of flavour. I love bay leaves and use them all the time.

I get lots of meal ideas from watching cooking programmes (oh goodness do I sound like a proper housewife or what?!).  If you have Sky Travel  (we get it as a freeview channel)  look out for the Keith Floyd shows - they were made about 20 years ago but they are still great. He goes all over the world and shows you how to cook in he local style.

Monday night is spaghetti night and unlike the ambitious Britwife, my sauce consists of a jar of spicy ragu with an added can of chopped tomatoes and garlic.  [smiley=puke.gif]

Hee hee...well you know the Britmen -- they're suckers for those OTHER skills... ;)

I've had a look 'round our cupboards & fridge this morn...that 2.5 kg can of plum tomatoes keeps looking back at me, so I'm thinking I'm gonna have to make sauce.  It was a great idea at the time I bought it, in Sam's Club (Costco?) mode.  Heh.  Anyone remember that episode of Seinfeld where Kramer goes to Costco & buys the huge tin of tuna & the beefarini that he feeds to the carriage horse?! :D

I don't know how to cook and Jon is always complaining that when I do cook, it's always for other people so this week I'm making dinner every night. I've gone through all my cookbooks to find something I think I could make:

Mon: French bread pizzas with artichokes and a tomato soup.

Tue: Risotto

Wed: Conchilia from Pisa. (pasta in ricotta sauce. I've made it before. v nice)

Thur: French onion soup

Fri: The piece de resistance: potatoe and goats cheese tart. I'm sooo looking forward to trying that out. Looove the goats cheese.

Hopefully I'll be able to get my tired butt home every night and cook it. If I do, I'll have a very happy hubby.  :)

Hey Ashley -- if you get too tired, I might be able to import out some homemade sauce that would be easy to throw together with pasta. ;)

Damn, I wish I were as organized as you lot obviously are. I haven't the foggiest what's for dinner. I suppose Richard might, but I doubt that as well. Guess we're more fly by the seat of the oven types.
I know I'm late - where's the booze?

That sounds awesome!

I'm a sucker for cheese of any sort. Last night I had buffalo mozzarella and sliced tomatoes with fresh basil leaves and a drizzle of olive oil and balsamic vinegar. One of my fave meals ever. Of course, it's easier living alone than having to cook for somebody else.

My SIL made this dish for our nighttime wedding reception. I really dont care for cheese of any sort and normally detest tom-ah-toes but I really enjoyed this dish. My SIL made it with plum tomatoes. Very red and juicy!
Ill probably make it over the summer with tuna salad.

We're having one of my mom's "don't want to cook" standards - taco salad

Let me know if you try it Carolyn, my husband says I should bottle it and sell it!

Tonight, I am doing a hybrid -- kind of my own thing but I put in the celery & the bay leaf at your suggestion.  I am making a lot though, but then I can freeze it & use it for lots of different things, tinker around with different batches, stuff like that.
