DH had chicken pies, chips, and a sandwich from Asda.  (Can anyone tell I worked late and he had to fend for himself?!  ::))

I had a bowl of chili and a wholemeal pitta (toasted!) with some hummus.

Caesar salad with chicken
Love your life, poor as it is. You may perhaps have some pleasant, thrilling, glorious hours, even in a poorhouse. The setting sun is reflected from the windows of the almshouse as brightly as from the rich man’s abode; the snow melts before its doors as early in the spring. Cultivate property like a garden herb, like sage. Do not trouble yourself much to get new things, whether clothes or friends. Turn the old; return to them. Things do not change; we change. Sell your clothes and keep your thoughts…

I went out for a pub meal with BF tonight. The food was fine, but he was in such a foul mood that he spoiled the entire evening for me. He hates eating out and it always puts him in a bad mood. Fine. I don't ask to be taken out too often. It's not a big issue. But when we do go out, I expect him to at least try to enjoy himself. And, failing that, not to make me miserable as well. Grrrr... I'm just very pissed off at him right now. I ended up crying at the pub, and I HATE crying in public. Granted, there were very few people there, but still. Maybe I was being oversensitive tonight, but I have to ask: why are men so clueless?

P.S.  Green-lipped mussels in garlic sauce followed by burgundy chicken. And not nearly enough glasses of wine.

I'm not sure why it is. It's not the money or the health kick issue, that's for sure. He just doesn't understand why you'd want to go out to some public place and eat food sitting next to strangers. The whole concept of restaurants is alien to him. Plus, he doesn't like his food to be "f***ed around with" -- which means anything "fancy" done to it or any "exotic" ingredients added. I think it's because his family didn't go out for meals at all when he was growing up. My family, on the other hand, went out to nice restaurants at least a couple of times a week.

Tell me about it. And eating out is one of my very favorite things to do!!  :\\\'(
