Lothian Buses Users...
« on: April 01, 2005, 07:15:02 PM »
I'll be needing transport for 7 consecutive days whilst in Edinburgh.  Due to where I'll be staying (likely Penicuik or Dalkeith), it's not really cost effective to pay single fares as I go.  I have the option to buy day savers online and have them delivered to my aunt's house.  Cost will be £17.50.  OR I can buy them daily, looks like the cost will be £16.10.  OR they have a one-week Ridacard listed for £12.00.  Does anyone know if that's a 'floating' one-week period?  Or is it Sunday-Saturday?  (I'll need it Thursday-Wednesday.)  I carried a Ridacard years ago, but haven't bought one lately.

Thanks for any info/advice....
When I am grown-up I will understand how BEAUTIFUL it feels to administrate my life effectively.

Until then I will continue to TORCH all correspondence that bores me and to dance NAKED over the remnants of its still glowing embers.

The price of a day saver will increase to £2.50 next week.  And that rate will not go down if you buy your day saver after 9AM.  So you'd be looking at big bux if you went that route.

I have a Smart Pass at £31/month, so I'm not sure how the Ridacard works.  But I'd be happy to phone them to find out.  It sounds like the best deal.

The No. 37 comes from Penicuik right into town centre.

Hmmm.....didn't realize they weren't giving a discount after 9am anymore.  I haven't had a Ridacard since they went to the new 'smart' cards - the reduced price daysaver was actually a better deal most of the time, as we tended to break up our time in Edinburgh with a trip to Shetland!  If you get a chance would you mind asking them about the 1 week Ridacard?  If not, maybe I'll try sending them an email.  (Haven't had much luck lately with email....we'll see!)

I just phoned them.  The Ridacard becomes active from the first day you use it, so you can deffo do a 'floating week'.  It's probably the cheapest option as well.

Nae bother.  The bus should stop right near the Job Centre at St. Andrew's Square, where your NI number awaits  :D.
