Can any of you Londoners recommend a decent restaurant close to the American Embassy please, nothing too expensive, prefer English/American/French for a nice lunch?

Cafe Suze in North Audley Street is nice - "Pacific Rim" cuisine.

No idea if this is near the embassy...I don't live in London (but in north England).  My hubby is dying to go here...

'Cause they have "pulpo" (octupus) on the menu.
