but it cost a hell of a lot more to get a UK Marriage Visa then it does to get a Fiance Visa.

How do you figure that?  For a spousal visa, you just pay for the spousal visa (currently $520).  If you get a fiancee' visa, you'll pay for that ($520) and you'll also have to pay for adjustment to a spousal visa (£330).

You'll need to apply in LA (or Chicago or NYC, depending on where you live).

For those that were wondering how things went we have to decided to give it sometime.

It just suck that we can't give each other the immediate attention we both deserve in this relationship

But this is the plan

1. Go out there for a month and have a great time with each other.

2. Apply for the Bunac program and get a work permit ( this will allow us the time we real need to get to know each other before we dive into marriage)

3. If it all goes well... marry here in the U.S ( she likes Hawaii)

4. Move back to the U.K in turn I will apply for a spouse visa

if everything goes well we will only be apart for 6 months.

She about to start work in Septmeber so she should be able to sponser me

Just wondering if I'm missing anything if so please reply ???

Just a reminder - you need to apply for the Spouse Visa after marriage BEFORE you return to the UK to live!  ;)

I may just enroll in a study abroad program so we won't spend any time apart.

How long does it take to get a US Fiance' visa?  We are planning to marry here in Michigan next spring, then I will eventually move to the UK.  Also, how are the dates of the visa determined?  When does the clock on it start ticking?  Can I tell them when I want it to be in effect, or does it just start when it's approved and we have THAT window to work within?

Thanks much!!!!

Lizanne,

I'd check out the Repatriation Board to find out more about visas to the US.  Most of the folks who post in this board have only done it one way...from the US to the UK.  THe other board will have folks that can help you more with things the other way.

Good luck!

:)
