Places to go and people to meet..
« on: July 26, 2003, 01:07:02 AM »
When Elle came to England there were a few places that we vowed that we should visit. :)  Many of which are deeply important to her and what she believes, and help her to feel closer to who she is. (If that makes sense?)

Anyhow, when the US ladies and gents to us brits came to England did they feel that there was any "must sees" or places that they've always wanted to go to when they got here?

Personally, my step-daughter was and is still hoping to go to see Althorp where Princess Diana's buried.  She also wanted to go to France, and we faked her out and implied that we would be going to Althorp (with some sinister clues that we thought up to throw her off the scent) but instead took her to Luton airport and then to Paris...:P

I bet that was a nice surprise for your step-daughter.  What was her reaction once she figured out where she was going?

Before moving here (and earlier), I really, really wanted to see the Highlands and Islands.  I've now been to Highlands, Skye and Lewis, but would still like to visit Barra and North & South Uist.  Lately I've had a real hankering to visit North Wales and Anglesey.  I've been reading some Welsh historical novels and am dying to see the places mentioned.

I can carry on a decent conversation in Gaelic and toying with Welsh, so these places have extra special meaning to me.
Insert wonderfully creative signature here …

We gave her a hint rather than her figure it out.  When we got to the airport it was obvious that we weren't going anywhere but to an airport!  We gave her a card with the
Eiffel tower on it and a few euro's spending money!

When she knew where we were going she was jumping for joy on the spot.  Elle got that on her camera ;)

Cool! :) I think that Scotland, Wales and Eire are going to be a must for us to visit when we eventually get around to doing so.
