Any Lost fans?

Something puzzling me about the physic guy...
He spends weeks trying to persuade Claire that if she does not raise the devilspawn herself then it will fulfill its destiny (or whatever!).
So when she does finally decide to seek his advice he tells her to give the devilspawn up!
And she suddenly doesn't seem concerned that he is now telling her the exact opposite of his previous warnings.

& the physic should have known that even if he knew the plane would crash, he had already seen that the devilspawn would live. So given the risk that Claire would die in the accident & leave the devilspawn to be brought up by others, then it's almost as if the physic wanted the devilspawn to fulfill its destiny (or whatever!).

Mwhoohahaha!

Well...do we know this baby is "devil spawn" or not? Do we know if the baby will live, or not? Still too many questions regarding this plot line.

My take on it: the psychic had a second revelation, that being he plane crashing. There was never a couple in the US to take the baby, he only wanted Claire on the plane. She wanted to give the baby up anyway so was relieved to find help in doing so.  They psychic's real agenda, though, was to get Claire on the plane. Perhaps that was all he cared about - that the baby was isolated somewhere.  Maybe he saw Claire having to raise the baby herself. Maybe he foresaw what happens in this week's episode.

Or maybe he foresaw (and this is taking from one of the explanations of what's actually happening on the island) that everyone on the plane would die and are now in Purgatory.

Assuming the physic doesn't regularly look like he's just seen the second coming of the anti-christ in an attempt to drum-up business (lets's face it, Claire did go back with more money straight after), then we know in one of the revelations the child would grow up to be pure EEEEVIL!. Or if the child grew up with it's mother it would be cute.
The child not growing up was not an option!!

Claire HAD wanted to give up the baby but turned down a very lucrative chance to do so, cos she finally got persuaded by the physic that she should bring it up. So if the physic says now I want you to give it up anyway, why didn't she just say, "F**k off you weirdo, I've got a nice couple who want to give me 30 grand for it!"

BTW as any fule kno being isolated on a desert island is NEVER enough to prevent someone from Total World Domination!

God, I am SO IRRITATED. DH and I have been in the US since the 27th and so I've missed two weeks. I was going to try to catch up on Sunday, but that's the day we got home and I was in a house cleaning frenzy and then a sleeping frenzy.

Anyone want to give me a brief rundown of the two that aired after the Sawyer episode (the last one I caught)?

God, I am SO IRRITATED. DH and I have been in the US since the 27th and so I've missed two weeks. I was going to try to catch up on Sunday, but that's the day we got home and I was in a house cleaning frenzy and then a sleeping frenzy.

Anyone want to give me a brief rundown of the two that aired after the Sawyer episode (the last one I caught)?

OK...I will try!

Claire has nightmares and is "attacked" in her sleep. She is fearful for her baby. Jack thinks she is just hormonal/under stress and wants to give a mild sedative. Claire decides to move to the beach because she feels like no one believes her. On the way she has contractions...and flashbacks.

First flashback shows her with boyfriend...she finds out she is surprisingly pregnant. Says she can't deal with it etc but boyfriend says he is up for it and let's give it a go etc and talks her into keeping the baby...

Claire and friend go to psychic..he asks her when she found out she was expecting? Just a few days ago...then he freaks out and gives her back her money. Says he doesn't want to read her etc.

Back on the island, Charlie is now with Claire on the path from caves to beach. Hurley is taking a census...the "attack" on Claire has given him the idea that everyone should be accounted for. He meets Lance on the path. Lance says he is from Canada. (remember Lance? He hunted with Locke)

Another flashback...at 6 months Claire's wonderful boyfriend comes back to their apartment and says he just isn't cut out for this and he wants out. So he ups and leaves.

Claire goes back to Psychic and begs for a reading. He knows boyfriend is out of picture...tells her is doesn't matter who the father of this child was, it came to HER because it needs HER to raise it...needs her "goodness" and he keeps saying DO NOT give up the baby for adoption...SHE must raise it etc. Gives back money to her.

Claire looks into adoption. In the meantime the psychic keeps calling her at night and saying DON'T put your baby up for adoption! FInally settles on a couple...but when they go to sign the contract the pen won't write. The lawyer hands her another...again, no ink. Then the woman passes her another...again...she decides NOT to go through with adoption and walks out.

Back on island Sayid stumbles back into camp (WAIT! YOu didn't see the Sayid episode with the French woman? I will only post this episode and if you didn't see Sayid then I, or someone else, will tell you about his) Hurly has gotten the master list of the plane from Sawyer and discovered that Lance was NOT on the flight!

Claire is still flashing back and calls the psychic...she goes to his place. He says he has found a couple in LA who is a suitable replacement for herself raising the baby (not just anyone can do it!) but she MUST leave on the flight the next day (of course he knows of the crash.)

Claire tells this to Charlie...tells him that she was stupid to listen to him and let him freak her out because he couldn't even see that it wouldn't work out getting the baby to the couple etc...and Charlie says...nananana (twilight zone)...he must have seen the crash and made up the LA couple to make sure Claire doesn't let anyone else raise the baby.

Then, who should appear menacingly on the path...staring like a psycho at Claire? LANCE!!!!

Geally, Lance is actually Ethan Rom.

OK...ETHAN...knew it was one of those solid, one syllable names!

Thanks for that...I wondered at first about the name, but Lance felt right. IS there a lance on the show? (or am I thinking Lance-spear-hunting person?!)

OK, now Sayid. Anyone? Anyone?  

Oh, let me do Sayid!!! I mean the episode

Sayid had left in disgrace after torturing Sawyer. He's wandering along the beach and finds a cable going into the ocean. I didn't understand where the cable was going, but anyway, he starts following it up into the jungle and finds it booby-trapped. He then gets pulled up by his legs and is hanging there....When he next awakes, he is in some sort of bunker, being electrocuted by a woman saying Where is ALEX???  He then has his flashback to the Iraqi army days where he tortures prisoners.  He meets a prisoner named Nadia who he grew up with but who he is now supposed to torture for information.  Instead they fall in love. (He flashbacks several times over the episode but i'm just going to say it all here). He ends up helping her to escape, rather than killing her by shooting his superior officer and then shooting himself in the leg and giving her the gun. She escapes, leaving him a photo with a Love ya lots message on it only he is sure that she died and never managed to escape.

Anyhoo, the French woman appears to be as mad as loon and goes on about that there are "others" out there in the jungle and that she hears them whispering. She also mentions the polar bears.. Sayid tells her he can fix her broken music box so she unties him and he repairs that and she continues to question him on his doomed romance as she has found the photo. She reveals that she had a lover on the island with her for a scientific experiment and Alex was her child - note, the gender was not revealed. SHe also says that she was forced to kill them rather than let them be taken over completely by the others.

She hears voices or noises so she leaves, keeping him tied up, but he managed to escape and steal a bunch of her papers.. He then ends up in the jungle escaping and it cliffhangs with him hearing "the whispers".

The next episode he returns to the base, very ill, and saying how they are not alone. Sawyer comes into his tent to torture him in return for his torture session, but Sayid says how gutted he was and guiltridden so Sawyer relents and says "i kept your fire burning" or some such thing to indicate he'd done a nice thing....

Where does that cable go by the way (the part that is out in the ocean?) I am soooo stupid when it comes to electronics etc! Every once in a while I worry about how this "message loop" keeps playing over and over...how...a big battery!? But, then I just let it go and count it off as a minor detail.

I'm with you Geally. That cable running into the ocean really floored me! I mean, where can it go? Maybe some big, strong intelligent man will post and enlighten us...

I DO know it's very important to the upcoming episodes. I have gleaned enough spoilers to know that the messages all come into play later on.... and it sounds VERY complicated

I won't give it away, but dh saw an advert in the US that gave away something interesting about the Korean guy!
