In order to get a UK Provisional license, I think your mother would need to prove who she was with her US passport.  Unless she had an appropriate Visa giving her the right to be in the UK for an appropriate period, I suspect that she wouldn't get the UK license issued and might end up with the immigration people a bit interested in how long she intended to stay.

Our experience has been that to follow the rules and the spirit of the rules too, however silly they seem, is usually a much easier course of action. Lies (even "white" ones) tend to get caught, lie on your record, and make it hard for people to believe you in future contacts.

I agree with Graham on this issue 100%.

Take a *HUGE* deep breath and know that you're going to do fine, Tebs!
You haven't taken all those lessons to no avail and your instructor must know you can handle it. Remember- it would be in his/her best interest for you to keep taking lessons, right?  ;)  This is a great sign that you're nearly there!

My instructor has set me up for a mock driving test tomorrow. I am kinda freaking out.  Really freaking out even,,,,LOL

This is just a mock test with the instructor, right? Mine did the same thing a couple of times, and the first time I was TOTALLY freaking out. But it's fine. It's more or less just like a lesson except that he didn't talk as much -- tried to act like a stern examiner ... lol. You'll be fine. And it's just a mock test! The worst that can happen is that you screw up and need an extra lesson before your real test. Don't sweat it. You'll do great. I was actually more nervous for my instructor's mock test than I was for the real deal. It's great experience and will get you good and ready for your real test. Knock 'em dead!

I'll be doing the mock test soon as well.  I'm nervous as well...I did read a suggestion that said to eat a banana beforehand - somehow it gives you better concentration and is relaxing.  Don't know if it's psychological or what...but everyone said that it works.  Best of luck to you, Tebs!
