masai sneakers, MBT
« on: April 18, 2005, 02:29:11 PM »
http://www.mbt-uk.com/

Anyone tried these? I am buying a pair next time I'm over to visit and cannot wait to see if they really work. I do pilates regularly and have realized how important good posture is for overall health and it's so easy to fall back into bad habits. I'll let you guys know when I buy them how they are...please share though if you have checked them out or know anyone that has.

A parent who was wearing them this weekend said that she didn't really see any improvement in her back or shoulder issues.

You can get them at blissworld.com if you want to try them before your next trip.  My roomie has them and she has noticed a big improvement in her back pain as well as in the cellulite on her thighs.
I just can't get over how they look..lol
Only Time will tell.. it's just too bad she's a closed mouth B**!!!

Just got my first pair yesterday in Sheffield. Really knowledgeable and nice woman fitted me and taught me the basics of exercising in them. I can feel a difference right away in my posture and muscles used while wearing them. They are quite comfortable and am looking forward to seeing the change after many hours of wear. She said walking a mile in these shoes takes the effort of walking 2 miles in regular trainers. I can say that taking the stairs is definitely more effort. We'll see how mcuh a difference they make overall in due time. :)

I am very interested in how they work out for you, pittpanther, because I am thinking of getting some for myself.

But are they comfortable? Are you balanced well? What do they feel like inside? Like is there an oversized arch support or what? The whole concept seems so strange to me.  ???

no arch support, that is the point. it's like walking on uneven ground, barefoot, like sand. they're not real cushioned, nor hard and it's more like the muscles in  your feet are re-learning how to support your feet while you walk. For some ppl, they're sore for a bit  before they are stronger. I have yet to feel sore, but i haven't woren them all too much yet. Have you checked out the site? There is a ton of info on there - or you can call the southyorkshire store (Sheffield). That's where I bought mine and the woman was very knowledgeable (trained and whatnot) and would be happy to answer any of your questions. She even came in while the store is normally closed b/c i wanted to try them on and i was leaving for the states.

As I wear them more, I'll provide more updates on how they feel and if they work. It is a lot to invest, but my brit bf spends just about as much on nike trainers, so I feel it's pretty well justified ;)

I saw an article on these yesterday - and I'm in need of new trainers lol.  I'll have to look into the price...

humm dunno sounds slightly off kilter does any of their profits go to assist the Masai people since they use of the masai as part of their marketing strategy. ???
But never fear, gentlemen; castration was really not the point of feminism, and we women are too busy eviscerating one another to take you on.

I like the concept but still haven't been round to Coventry to try some on. The price is £129 at most retail outlets I've checked online.

I read somewhere that you can't get these MBTs wet. That could be a problem in this climate! Does anyone know about this? (Still haven't tried any on yet, but I'm going to London next week and there are outlets all over, so may give it a go there.)

I have gotten them wet, it has something to do w/ the special sole they put on them. I think it's best to stick to an indoor gym climate I suppose with them. It hasn't affected mine as they are still really new, but I should take more precaution with that.

So far - I have found they are awesome and I am having no regrets that I spent so much on them. I don't know about multiple purchases or anything. I plan to keep it as a workout shoe mostly b/c you can power walk w/o shin splints! I think that is the best feature. Also, running was much more challenging in them and I felt like I was doing it right for once. My body was aligned. I left them this weekend at work and now I'm missing them - so I think it may be a very individual thing if you want to purchase them or not.

I got some at SheActive in Covent Garden yesterday and so far I think they're cool! They do look kind of funny, but they are very comfortable to walk in, and I can really feel my hamstrings and calves working while I'm walking. I'm going to use them for walking to and from work daily, and whenever I go on a city visit/walking excursion.

Hooray!!
