I'm allergic to shrimp, but fish paste sandwiches?!? YUM!!! I mean, it's really not too different from a tuna sandwich, right?

I suppose it is a similar principle, fish in a sandwich but there is something a bit yeuch about shrimp paste if you ask me ...

Britwife - it's certainly no worse than Marmite! [smiley=puke.gif]

You can buy Skippy here at Sainsburys.  I've converted to an organic and less oil/sugar brand which is much better.  Still have to have my Welch's tho.

Yes, I was used to buying the 'all-natural' (no added sugar, etc) Smuckers in the States (which is like cement with oil on top until you mix it up!). So I'm happy with a Sainsburys brand with less sugar.  I've not found grape jelly here though?  I usually stick to strawberry or raspberry jam here.

I asked hubby about the 'sandwich incident' from his school 'cause the other boy must have been eating peanut butter in a sandwich -- so my question was -- what else was in that sandwich?  DH said it was just peanut butter.  I said I'd probably gag too if someone offered me a sandwich with just peanut butter in it (though I do like peanut butter toast).

My fave peanut butter memory? :)  I was 'flatmates' once with a friend of mine -- she was divorced with a small daughter.  One year at Christmas, we were both very very poor.  She was so poor that she & her daughter were 'adopted' by a family from their church (or some such) and in their pack of stuff that they got were two HUMONGOUS jars of peanut butter (the largest I'd ever seen!).  We really couldn't afford to exchange presents with each other...but she gave me one of those jars of peanut butter as my Christmas present. :P

My UK boss loves peanut butter - used to eat it as a kid.  Not with grape "jelly," of course.

We use damson jam in place of the grape and it tastes just fine - if not better, actually.  ;)  My husband isn't a big peanut butter fan - unless it's on a HobNob or in Girl Scout Cookies!  ::)   ;D

I love pb&j too!! Only problem is the pb gives me horrible indigestion. When I was a kid one of my favorite sandwiches was pb and maple syrup......man that's good. And pb and banana sandwiches.......I actually fried one, the way Elvis used to eat them, it was good, but REALLY fattening!!!!

ooohhhh.....

Then there's the ol' peanut butter and banana.  ;D

I used to bring peanut butter and jam sandwhiches to work for lunch and my co-workers used to gag!!  Then again, I did always have to have a bag of ready salted crisps with it.    :D

My sons live on PB&J. I usually get Sunpat from Tesco or I get someone from the USA to bring back huge jars of it from Sams club. I really miss grape jelly!
Also when I first came here my husband was grossed out at the idea of PB&J but I must admit Im still grossed out about the chocolate spread on bread. Yuck!

When I was a kid I used to love PB&J with Fritos.  It's crunchy, salty and sweet all at once.  Mmmm.......

My sisters Pediatrician told her that a pb&j sandwich is on of the best things you can give your kids for lunch (God knows my brothers lived on them), especially for kids who are picky eaters and tend not to get proper nutrition.
It has protein ( peanuts), fruit (if  you get the real stuff), carbs and sugar to keep them going.  and it's even better if you get the all natural PB and the Just Fruit Jelly.

When my parents were going through their "Hippie Days" they would put Wheat Germ in the middle of our pb&j's.. hmmm maybe that's why I'm not too fond of them now.
I do however LOVE Peanut Butter, .. I'm one of those kids who would eat just a plain PB sandwich  :P
Only Time will tell.. it's just too bad she's a closed mouth B**!!!

wow, i didnt expect to get so many replied  :o lol. although I used to hate PB&J, I eat in every once in a while - mostly because someone told me that peanut butter is a good way to gain weight ?? lol but sometimes I'll just eat peanut butter, unless I have grape jelly which I will eat with peanut butter...
although, when I was in England, I had bought some of this raspberry jam and I loved it!! i wish I could find it here but I cant remember the name and its just.. not the same *sigh* lol
