No Nutella is good because its hazelnut but still i wouldnt eat it on bread. Maybe pancakes or something.

James does that and I always give him a hard time about it.. :-[  maybe I should be more tolerant...  you think?? LOL!!

LOVE it on toast - it melts...mmmm sweetness.  Sorta like having cinnamon sugar toast for me!

Mmm PB & J is my favourite!  Like another poster, I found Bonne Maman Raspberry Jam to be a pretty good substitute for Smuckers, my favourite US brand.  I get my Skippy PB in the small jars from, of all places, a Chinese supermarket here in Glasgow!  I think Skippy is made a little bit different for the overseas market, though -- it's not as sweet and the "Smooth" variety still has a few stray peanut pieces in it.  Good enough for me, though!  I've tried UK brands like Sun-Pat and they just don't do it for me!

I'm not a big fan of Sun-Pat either. Does anyone have a good UK alternative (as I probably won't be able to find Smuckers here)?

SunPat do a 'super smooth' one (dark blue label) that is pretty good... much better than their normal smooth one (light blue label).

Whole Earth does a lovely peanut butter.  Not as oily or sugary as Jif or Skippy and as a previously die-hard Jif fan, I'd never buy anything but Whole Earth now.

Yes it is, it says on the site it's organic. I only eat organic peanut butter. The only problem with it I see in the ingredients is palm oil, which isn't so good, but there's no added sugar. I wonder if they sell 100% pure, natural peanut butter somewhere like they do in the States? Anyway, here's where I'm getting all this info: http://www.goodnessdirect.co.uk/cgi-local/frameset/detail/495017.html

Try ebay.
I bought some on ebay at Christmas time... home-made by a very nice woman down Devon/Cornwall way.

(edited to add:  i have just searched ebay and didnt see the stuff, but i have emailed the woman to ask about it and will let you know when she comes back to me..)

I'd say that most British kids grow up without PB&J sandwiches.  It's just a combination which never seems to have caught on here -- or something which people just hear about in American TV shows.

I remember getting the notion to try PB&J when I was young, loved it, and still make PB&J sandwiches for myself sometimes (strawberry jelly usually).   I've had some weird comments about it though, so you'll find a lot of people here who'll think you're nuts!    :P

Quite a lot of Brits don't realize that jelly = jam though.  When I've explained the difference, several who at first expressed near-disgust at the combination have said that PB & "jam" doesn't sound quite so bad.  They still seemed reluctant to try it though.

Incidentally, in my estimation I would say that peanut butter in general is much less popular here than in the States.
