I had no idea what I was going to do for NYE last night. I generally never really do much of anything because I hate drunken crowds of people. At 8pm, two of my friends realized that a very old friend of mine was having a party at his sister's place in Brooklyn so we decided to do that.

We didn't get there until 11pm, and when I walked in it was just all old friends from the town I grew up in who I haven't seen in years. It was perfect. We had a fantastic time, and the sister's condo is on the waterfront in Greenpoint, so we were able to go up on the roof and ring in the New Year with an absolutely stunning view of Manhattan and the Williamsburg Bridge.

I went into last night expecting nothing much and ended up being surrounded by people I absolutely adore and having an incredible night. A great start to 2013!  :)

Sounds great, NOT!

We phoned a man last week to come and do some tiling and other floor stuff and he said he wasn't available until next month. That's what we were expecting, so we weren't disappointed or anything, but he called last night saying that they had to stop work on one of his jobs to wait for some parts to come in and he had a few days open to do some of work. He starts tomorrow at 8:30. Woohoo new tiles!

The Christmas tree I wanted was on 75% off clearance yesterday! I figured they would go fast, but there were several left. It was $98 marked down to $24, for a 7.5 ft, really thick and realistic looking tree. JOY!

I'd already decided I was getting a new one for next Christmas, and planned to buy one on clearance. I just didn't expect it to be the one I really wanted.  [smiley=2thumbsup.gif]

Double take: thought you meant a "real" tree at first  ;D

More M&S vouchers that I got for Christmas, plus I returned a gift (from DH) today & got another credit receipt!  I had a big shopping spree for some new clothes, pre-Christmas, with vouchers I got last summer for my birthday, and now I've got another shopping spree just waiting whenever I'm ready.  Yay!  :D

With what they charge for live trees these days, my fake one that can be used for years and years is an even better bargain.  ;D

A man noticing a haircut! Holy moly!  ;D

ETA what I came here for:

The diet starts today, so I stepped on the scale for a 'before' weight. With all my horrible snacking since moving back to the U.S. in June, and driving instead of walking everywhere now that we live out in the middle of nowhere, I have only gained three pounds! JOY!

J entered a picture of me with one of my giant allotment cabbages (I have easily had 7 cabbages weighing at least 13 lbs) into a 'grow your own' competion and we won 8 bottles of really nice wine.  We found out 2 days ago and the wines already come in.  Sweet!

Those are quite easily the sexiest thing I have seen in a long, long time!

Got a phone call this afternoon to book in for physio on Wednesday! I was told it'd be 2-3 weeks before I could see someone, so that's cool.

If only they'd been this proactive over the summer when I was prescribed 4 months' worth of physio within a 5-week availability window.

JetBlue had a great fare sale today from Newark to Tampa for $90 round trip with taxes so I booked it and I'm going to go see my grandmother next week! And it will be warm! Only going for a few days but she's really excited--my grandfather died in October and I'm sure she can use the company. It's been way, way too long since I've gotten on a plane.

I had my first Easter flower (daffodil) sighting today while driving. I always love the first sighting of the year. I wasn't expecting them for a couple weeks yet.
