Been trying to use up odds and sods of shampoo, shower gel, etc. Found a travel mini of Dove Body Wash and when I opened it up in the shower I realized it was a UK item -- the smell is so different  :)

Woke up to a thick dusting of snow this morning.  ;D We went to Lincoln State Park, and walked around as long as we could, taking pictures. I wanted some of the National Memorial area too, because of the living historical farm and other locations that would have been gorgeous in the snow, but it was too cold. This gives us something to look forward to in the next snow, even if it happens to be next winter.

I snagged a cheap airfare on Jetblue last week to go visit my grandmother in Florida tomorrow! I'm looking forward to warm, sunny weather for a few days after all the cold and snow up here (sorry TamaMoo, I'm much less of a fan of snow than you!)

I recently cleaned out my jewelery box and set aside all of the gold I never wear anymore...puffy earrings from the 80's, broken chains, etc. There were 2 bracelets, 3 necklaces, a ring, some earring backs and broken bits. I took it over to Hatton Gardens today and it netted me £492.50!!! Cha-ching!

Even better was that of that total, £13.50 came from a gold earring I found on the pavement this morning on my way in to uni.  :D

That is all amazing!  I wish I had some gold to get rid of!

My UP is that we went to our usual open mic night for the first time in many weeks and I did really well--practice does pay off--I made very few mistakes, wasn't very nervous at all and got lots of nice comments from people.  Plus I made a new harp friend as well who showed up with a little harp she plugged into an amp!

I went to a gig last night and all the bands I wanted to see were phenomenal. This is not unexpected. What was unexpected was the unscheduled act that came out in between the last two bands.

First, they made it look like it was going to be an impromptu reunion of a local favorite, but then there was all this hullabaloo and people milling around on the stage. No one knew what was happening. Finally, it settled and there were 6 people up there, no one I recognize. Next thing I know, they are playing Meatloaf's 'Bat Out Of Hell' in its entirety, the singer was shirtless and wearing a cape, and he was periodically taking glitter out of his pockets and throwing it on the crowd. After the full 10 minutes, they just walked off the stage and things carried on as normal.

It was one of the most absurd things I've ever witnessed and I LOVED it!  :D

DS arrived home with a 1 lb. bag of Starbuck's beans (and he hates coffee) plus a loaf of gingerbread from the Gingerbread Construction Co.  :D

My friend is an air stewardess and they're doing a new route to Vegas, I'm going as her concession, so get an almost free flight (business) + stay with her in Vegas for 3 days.

Yay cheap weekend away :)

The other day I stayed late at work so I could do a really good window display as my area manager was coming the next day to cover a day off for me.  I wanted to impress him *and* I was really inspired.  Somehow we had loads of animal print stuff in--trendy dresses, loads of scarves, shoes, handbags--loads.  Plus a few red accents--wide belts, a couple more handbags, shoes, etc.  And even a couple stuffed tigers and leopards--they all went into my window--it looked amazing.

The day after my manager covered he left me a note saying how great everything looked and all the nice comments people had about my window.  But the really cool thing is that this month my charity is doing an International Appeal and the collection bags were printed in animal prints (rather than the usual white) to highlight it.  He thought my window was for the International Appeal and gave me extra kudos for that.   It was really just a coincidence as I wasn't aware of the special collection bags and only barely aware of the International Appeal.
