Awww! I love kitties!  [smiley=smitten.gif] [smiley=smitten.gif]

My little UP: When I worked in CA, I spent most of my day listening to the radio since my job has very little human interaction. When I transferred to the UK, I was in charge of the department which meant loads of human interaction and no radio. Now that I have been TUPE'd (and demoted lol) I am back in a situation where I can spend a huge portion of my day listening to the radio and I am having a blast re-familiarising myself with old and new choices.

Yay KROQ! Yay NPR! Yay BBC! Yay KCRW! The choices are endless.  :D

Wow!  Here is Yorkshire, I'm still wearing a t-shirt underneath two sweaters plus a jacket under a thick coat, gloves and a scarf.  The only flip-flopping going on around here is in my dreams.

Ouch! I'm a much, much happier person when there's warmth and sunlight.

Yay! I LOVE internet radio!

Flip flop season! The weather has finally broken here in NY, at least for the rest of the week. I got a pedicure today and I'm enjoying my skirt with no tights and flip flops. It's supposed to be almost 80 tomorrow and Wednesday! It'll be a little cooler by the weekend but I'm happy with this for now.

Lucky you! Pretty sure we've got more snow falling tonight. Excellent.   ::)
So looking forward to my trip to Italy next week though! Warmth! My achy joints need it!
I've never gotten food on my underpants!

We're heartily sick of our flat/landlord, so figured that since our lease is up and we're doing month-to-month we may as well look for something new.

Saw a flat last night, landlord's cool with pets, it has tons of storage space (our current flat has none at all unless you count kitchen cupboards), and we can fit a dishwasher in the kitchen! :D :D DF has been teasing me about how excited I am at the prospect of a dishwasher, but it's the one thing I miss from life in the US. Only downsides of the flat are that it has single glazing rather than double, and it has carpet in one room. I'm willing to put up with those for a dishwasher, though. ;)

Every other time I've flat hunted I've had to go look at quite a few flats, and get a ton of "sorry, no pets" responses from people, but this one was super easy. Here's hoping that's a good sign.

OOOh, good luck EN! That sounds a lovely flat. (We're getting a dishwasher in the new place too! I am very happy about that!)

Little black cat with collar strolled up the garden.  After a little coaxing she allowed me a quick stroke and then strolled off again.  :)

My hubby and I went back to the US for Easter and just before we left, I left my job (for reasons unrelated to the trip). On a whim, I decided to e-mail my recruitment consultant to see if anything had popped up.

Long story short, I got my dream job in recruitment. I'm on day four and I'm absolutely loving it!  ;D

I seem to have two new friends, of the furry variety. One is an older gentleman with black fur tipped in grey, who looks quite battle weary. He has a limp, half of one ear, his head seems permanently tilted, his right eye will forever be looking right, and he seems to list to the left like a slowly sinking ship. However, this all comes together to make him very endearing, and he has the sweetest, most patient personality. He reminds me of one of those generals you see in old war movies who have seen far too much, yet keep on keeping on. For that reason, I have named him General.

The other has stayed a few days now, and seems to be part of the kitty family already. I don't have a name picked out yet, but want to wait to see if she stays a while before getting too attached... uh, Tam, you already are... and naming her.

In addition to these, although not unexpected, Batperson had her kittens two days ago. She has them well tucked away, so we haven't met them yet. For anyone who hasn't read the name explained elsewhere, my nephew named her Batman without realizing 'he' was a girl.

An American candy shop opened on the high street! The prices are, of course, outrageous and there's only about three things I'd consume even if they weren't (root beer, mt dew, cheetos) but its very existence is comforting.

I couldn't justify the cost of root beer or Cheetos from our American stall at the mall, but as you said, "its very existence (was) comforting". Odd how the things I thought I would give almost anything for while I was over there don't hold the same spell over me now that we are back.

My UP: MIL was listing off things she has picked up to bring with her in June. I'd asked if she could bring me 2 or 3 Curly Wurly bars. She has 20 of them ready to bring over.  [smiley=2thumbsup.gif]

Aww!

Hubby had a surprise outing planned for me last night.  I kept guessing what it could be from an Irish music concert to a lecture at the university.  I would have never guessed a play which is what it was!

It was The Pitmen Painters at the Alahmbra Theatre.  It's about a group of miners in the 1930s who take an art appreciation class and end up being artists.  It was really good!
