I sort of feel like travelling is getting harder and harder. Here's our latest scenario:
Attempt to purchase British Airways tickets for London to NYC. Can't buy them with my US credit card thru the UK web site. End up going thru a big rigamarole to buy them with US card (only one that had enough money on it). Time was of the essence b/c reservation was only valid for a set time and tickets were selling fast.
Next, attempt to buy Greyhound tickets thru their site. You can't buy them online or by phone with a UK card (which is where the money is this time around). End up having Mom put money in the US account. Find out that you must collect them at least one hour in advance of departure... after we'd hit 'submit'. Not sure we'll get there in time to collect. Hope they aren't serious about this.
Just received an email from BA. They are now required by the US gov't to collect Advance Passenger Information. We have to send our passport details and a few other bits to them before we check in. You do it via their web site. Apparently the US gov't will soon be requiring even more advance information.
I haven't even travelled yet and I'm already exhausted.
*NB this all did take place over several weeks!
