Easter Peeps
« on: April 28, 2005, 07:19:59 AM »
My mom sent my sons Easter baskets with two packs of marshmallow Peeps in each. My sons dont eat them and I hate to throw any American food out so does anyone want them before they go off? Why did I just say "go off"? I meant go stale?

I don't like Peeps either, Pebs, so I can't help you. But if you can't get rid of them and want to put them to use, here's a fun game: Put one in the microwave and watch it expand and get all giant and big and puffy! It's so cool! It'll shrink back down pretty quickly and become an icky, hard, wrinkly Peep, but it's fun while it lasts!

I just got in the post a large package from my mom which contains peeps in all colours.  No nutritional value but they taste great! :)

My mother sent me some.  I haven't eaten them in years and didn't like them when I did.  They have a chemical aftertaste.  I am too used to food here now. :P

Peeps are THE most disappointing Easter candy EVER MADE.  My mom only made the mistake of buying them once and when no one would eat them, they went into the bin.
Love your life, poor as it is. You may perhaps have some pleasant, thrilling, glorious hours, even in a poorhouse. The setting sun is reflected from the windows of the almshouse as brightly as from the rich man’s abode; the snow melts before its doors as early in the spring. Cultivate property like a garden herb, like sage. Do not trouble yourself much to get new things, whether clothes or friends. Turn the old; return to them. Things do not change; we change. Sell your clothes and keep your thoughts…

I love peeps. My mom sent me three packs of them for Easter, but I made a mistake and introduced my UK friends to them. I think I ended up only eating about 2 of them (individual peeps, not packs of peeps!!)   :(

Don't they go hard quite quickly after the package is opened?

My MIL used to send my husband a package of Peeps every year when he was in college, never realizing that he absolutely HATES them.  He started putting the package over the front door as a sort of talisman (you know, to keep out any other Peeps that tried to enter), only replacing them when the new package arrived the next year.  Because of this... erm... "tradition" I now have a package of purple Peeps permanently over the door to my basement.  :P

(sorry about the alliteration)

If noone else is interested in them--- the kids at the school where I work were thrilled when I shared mine from the easter box my mom sent. I didn't have enough for everyone, so they would love more  ;D

Yes! And that's the way I eat them! I always open the package and let them sit for a couple of days. They taste a lot better that way!  ;D
