Well I've got weeks off from University so Jess and I have little art projects after school with her Mermaid and Pirates theme so far the Jim Henson in me has been doing:

1. Fish toss game:

a series of fishes will be posted in the garden with their mouths open ...the object of the game is to get the bean bag into the different fishes for points. The fish are paper mache  and the bean bags are felt material with old lentils.

2. Treasure chest pulina:

Instead of bashing it with a stick (fears one of the over energetic boys will be batting the other children with a stick  :-\\\\) it will be a pullina style so everyone gets a chance to pull a string

3. Puppet

It's felt and foam made from a nicked pattern off the web (  :-[) I'm stumped on whether to make it a mermaid or a pirate..It started out as a pirate but my DH keeps joking it says it's a gay pirate .. ::) I used an old boa for the hair as I didn't have any yarn

when everything is complete I'll post the results after the party all will be donated to jess' reception class (except the pinata ...I don't think that'll survive. ;D )
But never fear, gentlemen; castration was really not the point of feminism, and we women are too busy eviscerating one another to take you on.

Can I hire you for my next birthday? ;)  It all looks so fabulous - wish I was crafty like that.

It's not being crafty..it's having too much time on my hands. ;D

If only PVA glue mosturized hands ...I wouldn't mind it all over my hands so often :P

Ah, nice! You gonna post pics?
Also what exactly is a maisonette? French for "small house"?  Is it like a townhouse or an apartment?

the end of term ...she had a good party and I've learned my lesson....we're not having ANY more kids ;D it was actually fun although the stuff that took me weeks to do was played for 2-3 seconds and then everyone just wanted to play on the X-box ::)

yeah she flaunced around but she was a good hostess though she kept asking her friends if they wanted something to eat or drink and when we started cutting the cake she was happily dishing stuff out ...running back into the kitchen saying she needed one for so and so or such and such. One of her friends bumped his head and started to cry so she took him to the couch and gave him a cuddle ....I think she has a bit of a crush on him though :-[
