Tuesday - spent one hour playing cricket - this involved a short run, stretching, a 'tag' game that involved a bunch of short sprints and then a short round of cricket (quite funny when you've never played).

Wednesday - walked a short distance.  Was planning on going to the gym but got caught up in work.  Oh well.  And tonight I have work until late then seeing Star Wars.  I'll have to workout extra long/hard on Friday!

Just started running again - injured my right foot over a month ago - tendonitis - so put my gym membership on hold.

I'm waking up at 7:30am every morning and running. Wed I ran 15 minutes around the neighborhood, Thurs I ran 25 minutes, Fri (hungover), Sat ran 45 minutes along the Thames.

Get a pedometer, do your 10,000 recommended daily steps, and then ya can eat, drink and be as merry as ya want ;D.....on average with a normal, easy gait that's about an hour and a half.

Has anyone tried Fitness First, the gym for women only? I signed up for it about a month ago. Slightly pricey to join, but you can go in as much and as often as you want and there's no men[smiley=2thumbsup.gif] They have all the machines you could possibly need, and there are optional classes to take too. Plus, you get coffee, tea, and drinks. I really like it so far. I guess it's convenient for me because it's in walking distance from where I stay.

I also do a TON of walking every day, partially because I have to. One of the major bonuses of being here, you're forced to move your butt.
Plans on hold 'cuz Brexit

I've joined sometime ago but then gave the whole thing a miss because like you've said it's pricey and the one I've been was annoyingly cliquey ...as I did some fitness classes and looked like the class was mostly everyone from a neighboring office plus no creche :-\\\\. That was about 2 and a half year's ago ...I've been to the new local one at it's O.K. I've now started doing http://www.karmaa.co.uk/ which is kickboxing and the best thing is they have classes for little ones so I can go work out and so can jess ;D
But never fear, gentlemen; castration was really not the point of feminism, and we women are too busy eviscerating one another to take you on.

I circuit train regularly here in Nashville, TN at the YMCA.  When I'm in the England (Portsmouth & Fareham) I usually workout at my girlfriend's gym.  I found a YMCA near her home but found out the Ys in the U.K. don't work as they do here.  The LA Fitness in Portsmouth is very nice and they have a nice selection of isotonic and isokinetic resistance exercises available.  I'm usually able to complete an entire circuit in around 50 minutes.  Sweet! :-)

By the way, what are the rules for running in England?  Around here we're allowed to run on the sidewalk and facing traffic when the sidewalks aren't available.  I would ask a constable in Portsmouth but Becca (English girlfriend) always tells me they don't have the time to answer my question. ;-)

I've probably been doing it wrong, but I run on whatever side has the shade when there is a sidewalk. I don't live anywhere near roads that don't have 'em. So yeah, I'm as curious as you are.
