Here's everything we took when we applied for my spousal visa:

form VAF2
Lola's passport
Richard's passport
2 passport photos of Lola
Lola's birth certificate
Richard's birth certificate
the marriage certificate
Richard's letter in support of Lola's application (stating he was aware of and supported her application)
copy of Richard's lease
letter from Richard's landlady granting Lola permission to live in the flat
letter from Richard's employer--stating his position, dates of employment, salary, and whether or not his position was permanent
one year of Richard's bank statements
three months of Lola's bank statements
Lola's CV, degrees, diplomas, etc., showing her employability in the UK
evidence of the relationship -- phone bills, photos, letter, a few emails
the application fee

Here's what they actually asked for:

the application form (VAF2)
our passports
a copy of Richard's lease
the letter from Richard's employer
our bank statements

I wouldn't bother showing emails.  What I would do is make sure to have telephone bills and pictures.  They do look at how much time you've spent TOGETHER and how much communication you've had.

Best of luck  [smiley=clover2.gif]

Where did you go to get your visa?  They didn't care about any of that when I went.  Never asked for anything to do with proof of our relationship.

Los Angeles

I mailed all the stuff -- and then this woman calls and says they need MORE proof -- "something to validate your relationship"

I think the 17 pages of phones bills did it!  ;)

LOL!!!!

Well then, Shala, take the photos.  Phone bills I'm sure you can just request by calling the phone company for.

Just another thought -- presentation makes a bit of difference too -- I've heard of people who at their appointments and they had ALL the application and documentation in a binder in coversheets -- all in order (as listed on the application) and the people who have to look at it -- appreciate it all the more.  Just a thought.  [smiley=clover2.gif]

Shala, when you fill out the VAF2 form, which of the two Section 7's will you fill out?

The first Section 7 asks about "Previous Applications and Travel"  but the *OTHER* Section 7 asks about "Other Information".  Some people do Section 7 and other people do the *other* Section 7.  Some adventurous souls opt to fill *BOTH* Section 7's, bless their hearts!  Which for you?  ;D
