UK bathroom scales
« on: May 02, 2005, 10:49:49 AM »
What kind of scale do you have? I just bought one recently at Ikea..just a cheapy one. Im totally against the scale thing anyway but since starting SBD I decided I better buy one. Anyway I really HATE the way everything is measured in stones and Kg. I know there are 14 stone on a pound so when you get on your scale sometimes it can take two weeks to see a ONE LINE difference. So depressing! Should I invest in an electronic scale and if so can anyone recommend one? Lola? Anyone?

I'm interested in hearing recommendations too. I'm on my 2nd new bathroom scale since moving here and am still not happy. The first ones I bought were digital and could be set to read in pounds instead of stone. That part was good. However, every time I stood on the damn thing, I weighed a different amount. Once it said I weighed 103 lbs and we KNOW that's wrong! Next, I invested in a more expensive traditional (non-digital) scale. This one only does kg and stone and I'm finding that too hard to measure weight loss. I'm not at home right now so I don't have the brand names of either of the ones I've tried, but I will post them after I'm home again on Thursday.

Wow, me too!  On the electric one.  Bought ours in IKEA (Though it cost an arm and a leg for IKEA!!!) just sucked always different!  Then bought a Stone and KG one on Ebay, but like you all, it's hard to see the difference!  Might get one in the US and bring it back!

We have a regular one from Asda, I think for about 5 pounds.  That one's in stones with a small marker for pounds.  I rely on that one the most since we've had it the longest.

Our digital one we got from House of Fraser for about 35 pounds.  I want to say that the brand is Silva...I'll have a check later on when I go upstairs.  It's silver with circular "dents" where your feet go.  It measures in kilos, stones, and pounds (you just flip a little switch on the back).  I use that one to see if I'm at a fraction of a weight (like if I've lost 1.25 pounds....I like 1.25 pounds lost better than 1 pound lost!).

Edit:  my digital scale is a Salter, not a Silva  ::)
