I love my dentist!!!
« on: May 05, 2005, 12:08:57 PM »
Just wanted to say that I LOVE my dentist!  He is super!  I was so afraid to go, but my friend dragged me to hers and made me sign up (Just so happens he is less then a 5 minute walk)  I think I might go as far as saying he is the best dentist I have ever been too.  Yes, I have said it THE BEST!  Very professional and all the newest equipment!  He even took a picture of the inside of one of my teeth and showed me on his computer!

Just wanted to start a positive thread about Dentists, hoping I am not the only one who loves theirs!

All the dentists i've used in the UK have been great.
Especially the really cute South African one... he used to like to show others my American fillings.  Whenever i would go, he would ask if i minded if he called someone in to have a look at them!  ???  :)

Hmmm, I wonder what it was about them?  I got my first tooth coloured filling today!  I have a mouth full of metal fillings, including one of my crowns at the very back that is gold!!!  (That's right they asked me what I wanted and it was the very back tooth, so I went with gold :P)  I wonder how much it would cost to replace all the fillings?  It looks so much nicer!

Did you get the white filling done on the NHS?
Im pretty sure i was told they're not available on the NHS, but that was several years ago...

No.  We had to do it private.  But Richard has dental insurance at work.  His prices considering are not that bad.  I think my cavity was £50 (A filling in NY was a lot more, though I didn't pay the whole thing because of insurance)

My DH has a really nice and painless dentist too.
He had x-rays, 2 fillings, 1 tooth extracted, and everything cleaned & polished for only £45!
Even though i knew it was NHS, i was happily shocked at how cheap it was!

I loved my gorgeous Swedish dentist also but he's no longer at our surgery. Now I have some boring guy that isn't even pleasant to look at. Last month I went for a cleaning and I sat down and he asked "so whats the problem?" Weird! I just said no problem just a cleaning please. I'm going in June for a final cleaning at that surgery.  I mean the dentist did his job but a nice personality should be a prerequisite when it comes to dentists!
I Found my old dentist on yell.co.uk and he moved to Hampshire. Where is Hampshire anyway?

My husband just last week had to go for an emergency appt. He paid £50 just for them to perscribe an anti-biotic and told him to come back next week for x-rays. £50!!!

hi there!  i admittedly always go when i am home in the states to the dentist because i am petrified to go over here.  but from reading this - i wondered who this dentist is in hampshire?  i live in southampton and know that my year is up to go and i am so nervous to go - but am being a big girl and checking to see if you could pass the name along!

I love my dentist here in the UK too. I've received by far the best treatment and chairside manner here in the UK than ever in the USA.

Glad to hear of your positive experience Stacey!

the colored fillings are available through the NHS but you have to pay for it if you want it.  That's what I just did a few months ago.  If I wanted the silver fillings it would have been free.

I love my dentist in Kilburn too!  He rocks!  I've only had good experiences, as have the people I've sent to him.

We have a nice dentist here whom I like but DD had extractions for braces and it was £60 a tooth!  The rest isn't so bad..

Another thing, we were scheduled in for a check up every six months.  I thought it was for a cleaning.  In the States, we go for a check up once a year and cleaning every six months, here it's opposite.

What does everyone think of that?
