Who cooks in your household?
« on: May 09, 2005, 12:20:00 PM »
As there is a megathread on what people eat, I figure it makes sense to ask about who does the cooking.

In my household, MrCoffee does most of the cooking during the week.
Originally we sort of drifted into that arrangement since he works shorter days & from home, but now he's gotten so good at making Indian food, for instance, that I just want him to cook all the time!
Fortunately he likes cooking... ;D

Since I've been in England, I've been doing a lot of the cooking. When I was living at home, my grandad did almost all of the cooking.

I do the cooking, because as he works from home and does the cleaning, laundry and various other things about the house, it's the only thing left I feel I can contribute to the family aside from my pay cheque.  :-\\\\

Me, as:

1. i love to cook and nothing makes me happier than making my husband happy by feeding him.  he loves to eat!!!!

and 2. I like to control what we eat health wise....i love him, but he likes to cook jamie oliver recipies and if we were eating those all the time we'd be gaining a lot of weight!!!!!

Plus, i just have a knack for it.

I do the cooking, but I live with a roommate who I mooch off of once in a while.  But my cooking is mostly grilled cheese and already made salad in a bowl.

I do 99% of the cooking.  I guess I'm just traditional that way -- I think the woman/wife should do the cooking.  I just came from a family where the moms, aunts, and grandmothers did the cooking.  Plus, like others, I'm watching what I eat, so it's much easier if I'm the one making the majority of the food choices.

DH will occasionally cook -- he does a very nice Sunday roast and can always manage to rustle something up if I'm not home in time to make dinner.   ;)

Like Lola, I do 99% of the cooking at our house. Having said that, my hubby did the cooking this weekend because I wasn't feeling well and is a very good cook- does some thing pretty experimentally depending on what we have, but things usually come out very tasty!

It hasn't always been me, though. When I was working in London and he was home finishing up his phd, he did all the shopping and the cooking!

I love to cook and I feel good in the kitchen- we happen to have a really nice one with a high ceiling and lots of light from a huge sunroof! It's one of my favourite rooms in the flat!

I cook everyday except Thursday & Friday.
My DH only works part time, so he cooks on those days, since he doesnt go in to work.

We split it up however it works out on a given week.  He likes to cook & has been cooking on the weekends.  While I've been basically a housewife for the past year, I've done the cooking on weekday evenings.  I was really out of practice coming over here a year ago, so it took me awhile to get up to speed in the kitchen. :P  Now that it looks like I'll start working again soon (within next 1-2 months I hope!) -- we may end up getting more takeaways! Well I hope not, but it'll be a transition.

I cook, he does the dishes, we take turns paying for a night out to eat.

Of course, he is more than happy to cook when I need / want a night off...which makes me happy ;-)

Hubby actually does most of the cooking since he's not working at the moment (in grad school) and he's much better around the house in general than I am.  I like to cook and will on weekends, but it just makes so much more sense for us for him to cook right now.

How about an option for BOTH!  While I'm not currently living with my bf...might as well be.  We share in the cooking responsibilities - it's his turn tonight!
