hello miichaelp, glad to have you join us...

I will be marrying a Geordie this fall and moving to the North east of you...  and from my gatherings...  LOL, geordies are the friendliest Brits I know of.  Although we do have a few Scouser friends...  You are moving to Scouser country ya know...LOL!... or very close to it...  "Liverpool"

I think it is great that you are going to give the UK a chance...I wish you much luck...and I am sure we will see you around here some.

Can not help you with the the golfing...  nor american syle mountain biking...  but my FH is a very avid mountain walker and cyclist... I will give you his web address and you can go look at some of his awesome photos of walks and cycling.  http://www.geocities.com/tiger.tom/index.html

He use to have some good links in there for both for the UK...  guess they are still there...  if not, pm me and I will get some from him.

nice to meet you and enjoy.

Michele (shel)

Welcome to UK Yankee.  I think you'll find all sorts of great information here.  I don't think there has been a question yet that someone can't answer!  So get out your comfy chair and read to your heart's content.  Remember to post lots too cause we are curious about you and what you are getting up to.

P.S.:  Shel I like the new saying at the bottom of your posts.  Its lovely.

Welcome to UK-Yankee.  As a newcomer myself, I fully appreciate the wonder of finding so many people just like you, after feeling you were alone in the situation.  I too am moving to the U.K.  The one thing that gets me down though, is the American attitude that if you move to any other country, you're goign into *barbarian* territory.. One thing is to be proud of your country, another is to look down on others  :-/
The search for my future ex-wife marches on...
