How long before marrying?

Met: Feb 2003
Started Dating: April 2003
Engaged: Oct 2004 (after 1.5 years of dating)
Getting married: April 2006

Our longest time apart has been about 4 months.

I give all you credit that have been able to handle the several months apart.

We started talking online December 2002, relasied we had feelings for each other Jan 29 2003. Met for the first time April 2003. We've flown back and forth a number of times since then.

I proposed Feb 13 2005. She's moving to the UK in Septmber and we're getting married Feb 24 2006.

Longest time apart has been about 3 and a half months.

Started corresponding w/hubby through Match.com in Oct. 98. Met him when I was on vacation tour in Scotland in Sept. 99. He came to U.S. with me for a month in August 2000, then back & forth between U.S. & Scotland until it became obvious that US Immigration was giving everybody a major hassle if they came in too many times on the 90 day non-visa waiver.

I even got a hassle from the immigration folks in Glasgow for coming in so often. We decided to marry in Scotland in March 2002. He had to stay in Scotland waiting on K-3 visa to U.S until November. It was very hard to be apart so much. We are in U.S. for about another year or so until we make 4 years married & can go back to Scotland with minimum hassle from UK immigration.

The longest we went between visits was about 3 months.  Props to those who have made it through even longer periods of separation.

Met: 27 December 1998 (while I was on holiday here with a friend)
Engaged: 06 January 1999 (yes, 10 days after we met!)
Married: 11 September 1999 (how ironic)
Longest time apart: 6 months

still married, very happy and planning to adopt very soon!

Met online in July of 2003.
Admitted that we had fallen in love with each other November 2003.
Jamie proposed in December 2003.
Jamie came to visit me in the States in December 2003 (December 15th - 26th) and "officially" proposed again with the ring.
Came to visit me in February 2004 for Valentine's Day.
Came to visit me in April right after Easter.
I went to visit him at the end of April and stayed with him for 6 months.  In that time we got married: Sept. 18th, 2004.
I had to leave the UK at the end of October to go back to the States and get my visa.  We were apart from each other for an agonizing month.
I received my visa and returned to the UK at the end of November and we have not been seperated since.

i visited him July 2003  in england for a month  (he proposed.. i accepted)
December/Jan.  2003-2004-- James came out to visit me and met the family..
June 12-2004-  we got married in CA..
had to stay about a month in the states  while were  married..(and he was here)  and THAT seemed  very long as  well..

basically  a  year and a half  before we  got married

so about 6 months  that we  were  ever apart  in one go..

We dated for just under 4 months before he popped the question.
We will have been dating exactly a year by the time we get married, all of which will have been long distance.
So far the longest we've sent between visits is 3 weeks.  I am stationed in Italy so it's much easier than if I lived in the US.

Sept 18, 2005: he proposed officially!!
Sept 2, 2006: WEDDING!!!


We never dated long distance beforehand since I met him in person at my school in Michigan.  He was on a study abroad for 9 months.  Spent 100 days apart in the summer (just over 14 weeks).  After about a year of knowing each other we decided we wanted to get married.  I'm leaving tomorrow to see him for a few days (for my birthday!!).  Then he's coming here (Michigan) for 9 days over Thanksgiving.  Then I'm studying abroad at Lancaster Uni for 6 months (leaving Dec. 25 - end of June '06).  Then he'll be coming here mid August for the wedding!  Then onto London where we'll live .  That about sums us right up 

May 2004 - We met at Camp Lejeune, NC.  His unit only had 2 weeks left before they shipped back to England.  When he wasn't on maneuvers and I wasn't working, we spent every spare minute together.

June 2004 - His unit shipped back to England.  We talked on the phone every day and night. 

July 2004 - He took his summer holiday to come back and visit me.  We got engaged two weeks into his visit.  Took him up to WV to meet my family and thus began preparations for the wedding.

August 2004 - He went back to England.  More talking on the phone!

December 2004 - We got married, moved to England, had a baby in May and have been very happy ever since!

So, the longest we have ever been apart (so far!) has been 4 months.  Got my fingers crossed he doesn't get deployed anywhere.

FEB 05 - met online through match.com
MAR 05 - met for first time, he flew here to SF
MAY 05 - I flew to UK, he proposed
SEPT 05 - he flew back here and WE GOT MARRIED!
NOV 05 - hes flying here again for last visit

JAN 06 - Im moving to Bristol!

Love is grand.....

February 2005 - I came to England on a tourist visa (were never apart again)

May 2005 - Married

We met while I was living in Edinburgh.  I returned to the states twice for brief periods (couple months at a time) for other obligations.  He proposed in Venice about 2.5 years after we met.  We married a little over a year later in my home town.  So, from meeting to wedding we were together for 3 years, 4 months. 

Not bad for two people who thought they would never, ever, ever get married to anyone...ever.
