Yankee DD and her British Bully
« on: August 19, 2003, 06:26:29 PM »
Hey everyone.  I was introduced to this website by Wishstar when I was surfing the web before my return to the UK.  I just permanently moved to East London from Tampa, Fl to be with my hubby who has lived here all of his life.  I've been back and forth the past year or so, but had to wait til the pet passport came thru to come here permanently so I could bring my British Bulldog, Chubbie Chops.

Im 31, love antiquing, sports, traveling, music, any good books.  If anyone of you are in or around East London and want to get together or show me around, I would love it.  My email is DDsly@hotmail.com.

I also work in the social services field and kinda humming around getting my cv together.  I havent properly done anything in the way of touring the city.  I think all I know is Tesco, Sainsburys, Boots, and the Seven Kings Park...lol

Hi Hi HI.  How wonderful you all are with your greetings!

I dont know WISHSTAR personally, as I just came across her website and emailed her with my hesitance of coming to the UK.  She recommended this site and here I am.

I actually live in Romford.  My brother in law is moving to Hornchurch this weekend and Ilford is right around the corner.  ( I am starting to know a little geography, lol).

As for my lil bully, I had to wait until 6 months after the date of a negative rabies titer blood test to bring him over.  Luckily the pets scheme was introduced into the USA Dec 11th and I had it done Dec 12th.  Getting him over was the pickle as far as an approved route.  Currently there is only one route from Sanford, Fl and one from Los Angeles, however now I have heard Continental is doing it only accompanied from Cleveland and Newark.  I had to fly him on Brittania.  I also had to hire easipet (in Lingfield, Surrey) to handle all of his paperwork etc as they do it for the cargo depts.  They should rename their company "difficult pet" as it was two days before Chubbie was to fly and they finally noticed his paperwork was wrong, so we had to put it off another week.  My hubby found when picking him up at Gatwick that other people had the same problems.  BUT after speaking to a lady in the USDA office, she said by Dec 2003 more airlines will be on the bandwagon and I wont need to use that company again should I want to fly him back and forth for any reason.

His rabies is good for 3 years and he wont have to do any of this as long as I keep it up to date.    So now he and I are happy campers and he seems to really love it here (aside from our current or past heat wave that left him covered in wet towels).

Thanks again everyone, and I look forward to getting to know you!!!

Danelle

Hi Danelle and welcome to UKY!  I was lucky to find this site about a year before I moved over and continue to be hooked!  I can't go a day without hitting the site without going through withdrawl.  I've made some great friends here and it's made the whole move that much better!  Hope to see you post often!

HI everyone!! Hello Wishstar and the rest.  Sorry I havent responded to your wonderful greetings.  Been a bit busy with my brother and his family over here the last few weeks and doing a little bit of job hunting.  Didnt know I had posts to mine, hence not responding.  I will have to figure out a way to get it going back into my INBOX via email.

Anyway, am trying to make it to the get together at Hyde Park tomorrow.  Hope to see you guys there!!

Danelle
