Customs

Hello Everyone,

Last year I met an amazing guy online.  He is totally great. Anyway, we have been visiting eachother recently.  I just returned from my third trip and he is due in the summer.  Now last time I was like really grilled by customs in Manchester.  And, like I have been reading threads from other sites saying that customs/immigration is going to mark me as red flag and start giving me and him hard time.  can anyone enlighten me on the situation.  Has anyone been harrassed or maybe had a smooth time getting through customs??

Thank you,
Evelyn

You mean immigration, not customs, right? The place where they check your passport as opposed to the place where they check your luggage?

I've never gotten harassed by immigration on any of my numerous trips into Heathrow, nor has my BF gotten harassed on any of his trips into JFK and Newark.  Many people on this forum have experienced otherwise.  I have lots of stamps and also some visas for various countries in my passport though, so I probably look like a regular traveler to them.  The consensus in other posts indicates that it's best not to carry personal items like diaries or journals with you, as immigration seems to scour them for any evidence that may indicate intentions to illegally stay in the UK.  Good luck.   :D

A question for you... do you by any chance tell them that the reason for your visit is that you are there to see your boyfriend?
One of the best pieces of advice I was given when I first started making trips over to the UK to visit my bf now fiancee is when asked to say you are visiting friends or on holiday.. nothing more nothing less.   You are friends after all and or taking a holiday from work and any more information only muddles things and makes them suspicious.
Others may not agree but the Only time I was questioned in any way was the one time I said I was there to visit my boyfriend...

If your passport hasn't been marked with anything other then your visitors visa stamp (which you receive when you enter the UK) then I wouldn't worry about your future visits.
Only Time will tell.. it's just too bad she's a closed mouth B**!!!
